He was the prince of sakya tribe in Nepal. At the age of 16 he got married to yashodhara , they has a son named as Rahula. After that at the age of 29, he left his home comforts to seek the meaning of suffering. He sat in mindful meditation beneath a BODHI-TREE. When he was meditating he fully realized the truth of the cause of suffering in the world. On the full moon of May, Siddhartha Gautama become THE BUDDHA. He died in 483 BCE ,in Gorakhpur at the age of 80.
THE BEGINNING OF BUDDHISM:Buddhism was a religion founded by Siddhartha Gautama Buddha more than 2500 years ago in India, with about 470 million followers of Buddhism preached around India. Scholars consider Buddhism as one of the major religion of the world. Some scholars do not recognize Buddhism as an organized religion but rather a “way of life” or a “spiritual tradition”. Buddhism encourages its people to avoid self-indulgence but also self-denial. When Gautama Buddha passed away around 483 BCE his followers begin to organize a religion movement. Buddha’s teachings become the foundation for what would develop into Buddhism. In the 3rd century BC ASHOKA The Great Mauryan Indian Empire, made Buddhism as the state religion of India.
EXPANSION OF BUDDHIST TEACHING:Over next few centuries Buddhism began to spread beyond India. Buddhist expansion by sending monks to surrounding territories to share the teachings of Buddha all around the world. Buddhism spread not only in India, Ceylon, Burma, Nepal, Tibet, central Asia, china and Japan. These are the just some of the regions where the middle path was widely and strongly accepted. Today there are approximately 350 million Buddhist are all around the world.
BUDDHA’S TEACHINGS:In Buddhism dharma is the doctrine, the universal truth common to all individuals at all times, proclaimed by the Buddha. Buddhists follow the teachings of Gautama BuddhaWith our THOUGHTS , we can make the WORLD -Buddha Basic Teachings of Buddha which are core to Buddhism are: THE THREE UNIVERSAL TRUTHS:1. Nothing is lost in the Universe: In Buddhism, the law of ‘Karma’ says everything we do comes back to us in the same way. If we destroy something around us, we destroy ourselves. We lose only our consciousness; things only keep changing their form. Everything comes to the same way you did to others. If we hurt someone, same way we’ll get hurt by the other. If we cheat another, we cheat ourselves. “We reap what we have sown”. Everything changes:The second belief of Buddha is that Everything in this World is changing continuously. As nothing is permanent a life based on possessing things or persons does not make you happy. Nothing remains same in this World every single thing is changing with the passage of time. ‘’Everything changes , nothing remains without change’’ – Buddha.
Law of Cause and Effect: The third main belief of Buddha is that we are the way we are now due to the things we have done in our past. Our thoughts and actions determine the kind of life we can have. This law tells us that “Every cause has its effect, every effect has it’s cause”. “For every action there is always an equal and opposite reaction”1. The Noble Truth of Suffering: (DUKKHA) The “illness” that the Buddha diagnose as the human condition is dukkha. The human life is full of difficulties and Hardships which causes a man to suffer in his life. At every step of life, man faces hardships and sorrow. 3. The Noble Truth of the Cessation of the Suffering: (NIRODHA)Cessation of suffering is that stop doing what causes suffering. There is always a cause, a reason behind suffering. 4. The Noble truth of the the (MAGGA)Everyone can be enlightened by taking the eightfold paths. This truth shows the path , the solution to solve the cure. The path is the way which is the eight different areas of practice that go through every part of our lives.

Buddha is honorific title that means (awakened one) this is not a Personal name. The realname of buddha was Siddhartha Gautama. Some Buddhist monks practice sokushinbutsu (“a Buddha in this very body”), which is a type of self-mummification. Between the 12th and early 20th century, monks would eat pine needles, berries, tree bark, resin, and certain herbs to help starve and preserve the body. Unlike many other religions, there is no central text in Buddhism.
Siddhartha Gautama came from a Hindu family, and both religions overlap somewhat. The major difference is that Hinduism is clearly a theistic religion, whereas Buddhism is mostly non-theistic. Unlike other religious practices, Buddhism does not require a person to believe in a creator god or gods.
Buddhism believes in three elemental concepts: nothing is permanent, all actions have consequences, and it is possible to change. According to the Buddha, the secret to happiness is simple: To want what you have and not want what you don’t have. The “fat” Buddha that people often see in restaurants is not The Buddha, Gautama Buddha. Rather, he is a character in Chinese folklore called Budai. Depictions of the Buddha often show him with webbed toes, rounded ankles, and projecting heels, which, according to legend, are signs of a great man. The Buddha is a canonized saint of the Catholic and Orthodox Churches. The Buddha lived during the 5th century BC and died at the age of 80. He died lying on his right side between two Sal trees, which, according to legend, miraculously bloomed out of season. While different theories of Buddhism may have claimed that women could not achieve Nirvana, the Buddha himself said that there was no reason that women could not achieve enlightenment. Buddhists do not believe in an essential soul or self. After the Buddha died and was cremated, his ashes were divided and buried among his followers in India.
A large, dome-shaped mound called a tupa was built at each burial site. The Buddha is sometimes symbolized as an umbrella. In Buddha’s time, members of the royalty were protected from the sun and rain by parasols, hence it became a symbol of protection.CONCLUSION:Buddha is honorific title that means this is not a personal name.
