I heard a lot about Mediterranean food from my dad because he ate the Mediterranean food before, and he said the Mediterranean food was the tastiest. I never ate any Mediterranean food until I came to Lake Charles, and I didn’t know there was a Mediterranean restaurant. Our family friend introduced us to the Zeus Greek and Lebanese café restaurant, which located in W. Prien Lake Rd and the opposite side of the Prien Lake Mall. The restaurant is open from Monday-Wednesday 11 a.m.- 9 p.m., Thursday-Saturday 11 a.m.- 10 p.m., and Sundays closed. Zeus is an average-sized restaurant, and the parking lot was small. There is an open place in front of the restaurant, and people can enjoy food outside. The interior of the restaurant is impressive and the paintings, chandeliers, and bars. There is a separate area covered with curtains and the walls around it covered with the same curtain design. The restaurant looks clean, and the waiters were nice to their customers, and they will do anything to impress their customers.
For the first time, I went to the restaurant with my family for lunch, and the waiter in the restaurant greeted us and assigned seats and gave the Menu. I ordered a diet Pepsi and a gyro plate. The drinks came first along with pita bread and zaatar-a green color powder mixed with oil, realize it was a free appetizer. Food takes approximately fifteen-twenty minutes. After a few minutes’ waiters bought the salad- one of the best salads I ever taste in my life. Salad is a mixture of lettuce, tomatoes, olive, cheese, and zaatar. Last, the meal arrives, the gyro plate came with two hummus, rice, and placed gyro on one side and some onions. The food taste of garlic and mixed spices, and the hummus and rice also taste good. The food costs twelve dollars and worth it. The atmosphere was quiet and calm, and I was able to enjoy the food.
The second time I went to the restaurant, I get the smell of mixed spices and the smell of gyro. The waiter greeted us, and they assign our seats. I order the Strawberry lemonade and Zeus special plate. Zeus special plate is a combination of gyro, chicken shawarma, fried kabab, grape leaves, rice, hummus, salads. The rice and salads were different from the first time. I liked the meats, rice, and salads, and I was not too fond of the taste of grape leaves. The smell of the food is the same as the first because I can still feel the taste of gyro meat on my tongue. The meal costs eighteen dollars, and two people can share the food. The atmosphere was quiet and calm, and they played relaxing music. People spent at least one hour in the restaurant.
Overall, Zeus is one of my favorite restaurants in Lake Charles. The restaurant is neat, and the interiors are impressive. The restaurant was quiet and calm. The staffs are friendly and will do anything for the customers. Foods are high quantity at a reasonable price. I highly recommend the Zeus restaurant. I will revisit Zeus because I want to try different food.
