Most people don’t realize the importance of being healthy and fit. They underestimate the importance of good health as they never know the advantages of it. We all know that health is wealth but only few people follow it in their life. Being healthy is not only a body free of diseases, it also means to have a tensionless mind. Physical fitness is not just bending our body.
It is about having cardiovascular and overall muscular endurance and strength, as well as strong immune system and most importantly, a satisfied state of mind. Studies have shown that a person who is physically active has higher chances of living longer. Del sanden wrote on his article on Exercise Statistics, “People who engage in physical activities for 7 hours per week have a 40% lower chance of dying early than those people who are active for less than 30 minutes a week.”
This statement is one of the many statements in his article proving the importance of fitness; it has the ability to enhance quality of life. Regular exercise can lower the risk of many diseases, improve physical health as well as psychological health. Another disease that can be prevented through physical activity is diabetes. Diabetes is a disease when the body does not produce enough insulin making sugat levels very high.
However, when muscles are in action they can take the sugar/glucose from the blood without the help of insulin. The amount of physical activity necessaru for prevention does not take up much time. Research suggests 2 1/2 hours per week of even leisurely physical activity- like brisk walking is significantly enough to improve glucose tolerance. Nowadays, people have been so busy in their hectic lifestyle and do not have time to keep themselves healthy or stay fit. So, in order for us to improve our fitness we must be committed. Committed in eating healthy, practicing cleanliness and engaging in daily physical exercises. As we know, there is no alternate to hard work, in the same way there is no alternate to health and fitness.
As they say, genius is 99% perspiration. Fitness demands 100% exercising effort and a complementary committed lifestyle before we pluck the fruits of fitness.
