A very talented man was born on April 15 1452 C.E his name was Leonardo da Vinci. Da Vinci means born in the town of Vinci Da Vinci was born near the village of Vinci. When Leonardo was a kid, he did not have that good of an education, but he did learn to read, write, and do math. At an early age his artistic skills were revealed to the town of Florence. When Leonaardo was only 15 his father took him to see a famous painter. Da Vinci pursued being an apprentice. Leonardo apprenticed for Andrea del Verrocchio. His mother’s name was Caterina de Meo Lippi, and his father’s name was Ser Piero da Vinci. He was a Florentine notary and landlord.

Leonardo’s Greatest Achievements

When Leonardo started something he almost or created something, it was like he could set his mind to do anything. When Leonardo got older he pursued math, science, engineering, architecture, and art. Leonardo apprenticed for Andrea del Verrocchio and helped with his Baptism of Christ. Andrea asked leonardo to paint an angel and andrea painted the other angel, Verrocchio looked at leonardo’s angel and it looked so much better than verrocchio and never picked up a paint brush

ever again. He painted The Last Supper, it was started and completed in (1495-1497) C.E. The reason it leonardo that long was because he was roaming around Milan trying to look for the right faces, right poses and expressions. It was painted on a 14-by-30 foot wall in Milan, Italy. He was commissioned by the Duke of Milan. Da Vinci used a technique called perspective and made the painting look like you could walk into the frame. In 1503-1507 Leonardo was painting The Mona Lisa. He used a technique called sfumato. It makes the painting look smooth changes between different areas of color and shading in pictures. The Mona Lisa was painted for Lisa del Giocondo to celebrate their new son. The Mona Lisa was painted in the Louvre, and Leonardo’s patron of the Mona Lisa was King Francois l.

Interesting Facts about Leonardo

He studied different areas of art, science, math, music, and the human body. Almost invented a flying machine and a tank. He had the basic idea of a parachute. Da Vinci boarded his windows and doors so people didn’t know if his inventions failed. Rote backwards so nobody could copy his notes and worked in a dark place. He was ambidextrous and he almost got executed. Leonardo had twelve siblings, nine brothers and three sisters. Leonardo was considered the spirit of the Renaissance. He almost got away with execution and he was ambidextrous. At the time of his birth, his parents were not married.

What made Leonardo great was he had talent, his wide range of knowledge in art, science, math, and engineering. His master in perspective. His Last Supper, and Mona Lisa. His famous quote ,“Man can do anything he set his mind to do.”
