With this letter, I am applying for a position in the Masters of Cardiovascular Science programme, offered at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen. With my current experience as a Radiologist, I wish to expand my knowledge of Cardiovascular Science and turn all my focus into it. By reading the course curriculum available online, I have found that the subject material covered will best suit my career goals. Lastly, the prospect of participating in a foreign program is an excellent way to share my knowledge to my fellow co-workers in Mongolia, as well as build upon my cultural experience.
In 1998, I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Medicine at the National Medical University of Mongolia with honors and completed a Radiology residency program in 2007 at the Health Sciences of University of Mongolia Post-Graduate Institute. Additionally, in order to progress further, I studied an online master degree course in public health from 2015 to 2017 at the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences which is equivalent to a graduate diploma in the EU system. My graduate study has introduced me with basic principles of the epidemiology, health statistics, health economics, health management, health protection, health policy and how to write a clear and focused research proposal.

Currently, I have been working International SOS clinic for eight years as a radiologist. My daily duties include the acquisition of images through X-Ray and ultrasound digital machines, an interpretation of the images, and diagnosing illnesses and injuries. I also serve as a senior doctor by advising other site physicians in the clinic and sharing my knowledge through our ongoing CME program. During my career of a radiologist, I have noticed that heart diseases and strokes were very common in our clinic. Which led me to a shocking research that said, ‘heart diseases account for one-third of all deaths in Mongolia*.’Since that moment on, I started to get interested in Cardiovascular Science.
Recently, I have learned that they’re new technical developments in the clinical imaging of the heart such as hybrid imaging. Which is perfect for my experience in clinical imaging and interest in cardiovascular science.
Unfortunately, due to my country’s slow development in medical science, there are very limited professionals, sources and researches about these new technologies. Therefore, I have decided to be one of the first doctors to do research on those new imaging technologies focused on cardiovascular science.
Doing an extensive search, I have concluded that the programme in Cardiovascular Science at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen is the perfect choice for me. The programme allows me to put into practice my two main interests: modern clinical aspects of cardiovascular diseases on and understanding translational research questions. It does not require me to be a cardiologist; it is concentrated on research rather than working on patients, and most importantly it is for international students. Not only I want my masters at this University, but I’m also looking forward to pursuing Ph.D. in the field of cardiovascular sciences here.
As mentioned earlier, the future of healthcare in Mongolia will demand a workforce with a specialized skill set. With this degree, I would like to meet this demand and be a pioneer in the field of advanced technologies in Cardiovascular Science. With all of my experience listed, I am in search of bringing my career to the next level. The subjects offered in this program are specifically in line with my professional goals. Additionally, the mandatory study abroad semester provides a great grounding in which to further experience divergent cultures and exchange knowledge. I am certain that the knowledge and skills learned from my professional experience, and the universities would make me a valuable addition to the Masters of Cardiovascular Science offered at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen.
