Ares is the god of war, son of Zeus and Hera, and brother of the goddesses Eileithyia and Hebe. His half brothers and sisters included Athena, Aphrodite, Apollon, Artemis, Hermes, Dionysus, and Hephaistos.

Ares had three children through his love affair with Aphrodite named Deimos (fear) Phobos (terror) and Harmonia (harmony). Also, he had mortal offspring. Many of them inherited Ares violent temperament and were often seen in the role of villains.
