There are just two genders. Not three. Not four. Not this entire list I always find on social media. Biologically and scientifically speaking, there are just two genders. The anatomical, natural, technological idea is not up for discussion. This is not something that they will make an alternate reality with like so many facts are twisted today. This is something that will inevitably affect everyone in the near future. For now, it includes me. It includes all study students, doctors, those practicing medicine, the LGBT community, politicians, and any other major organizations.

There is a group of people who strongly believe that more than one gender exists. They have life experience and try to show it is more than just biology that decides your gender. In USA TODAY, William Cummings wrote a little about how America has slowly begun to acknowledge that for many people, gender is not easily defined as either male or female. Some governments in the United States are now beginning to recognize these people and allowing them to select non-binary or neither in the sex option on their driver license or identification card. Also, recently an actor, Asia Kate Dillion became the first non-binary actor ever to be portrayed on TV and played as a gender non-binary character on the Showtime series Billions.

In addition, Jamie Shupe, became one of the first Americans to fight in serval courts for the recognition as non-binary. In 2016 Shupe became the first Army veteran in the U.S. to be legally allowed to identify as neither male nor female. Shupe fought for her/his self-identity as a man since he/she was an adolescent. Now Shupe strives and works to look like a female 24/7 although he/she finds it difficult. Shupe also says she/he simply views her/himself as a “variation of nature that’s just fine like it is.” Before we continue, it is important to note that genderism/cissexism: Is this idea that there are, and should be, just two genders & that single’s sex or most facets of it, are necessarily drawn to assigned sex.

At the genderist/cissexist concept, cisgender people represent the dominant-agent group and trans/gender non-confirming people represent the oppressed-target group. However, not all transgender people agree with the gender spectrum. From my perspective, and without doubt, a specific episode of Bill Nye’s first television program in the late 1900’s, said there are just two genders/sexes. This film goes on to tell the world to why there are two genders. For example, the whole science dilemma of either having male or female chromosomes. Why is the crucial? Well, as you may remember, people have been utilizing these prefixes to identify their own, or other people’s sexuality.

‘Cisgender’ composition of the individual describing with the similar sex as the figure they take physiologically, example: ‘cis-male’, ’cis-female’ ; ‘transgender’ equating to one person identifying with a gender opposing their natural physiological features. However, it is still either male or female, nothing else. Furthermore, an article from “TheScientist”, which is a website dedicated to “exploring life, inspiring innovation” which has organized some facts from scientific research on this topic. In the article they identify different organizations and scientist who have conducted research on people who believe they are of a different gender.

In almost all the studies it is certain most of these people have gender dysphoria. During the research they found most had weak connections in the part of the brain that shows how one feels about themselves. Also, they found much of the brains choice of becoming male or female is decided in the womb before birth, so it is possible certain hormones or other factors make the brain feel something else that the body is not.

However, scientist still do not feel confident on a certain answer or explanation. The one thing they say for sure is that every person should understand it is important to understand if you are male or female, as it is just part of the biology of humans. Currently, there are only two legally recognized genders in most societies in this world (male or female), recently this has caused a large issue with gender and the law. Certain people believe that those who cross specific gender boundaries may not “exist” in a legal and social sense without denying or concealing important parts of themselves. While I believe it is important we keep the law recognizing only male or female, I also believe we need to work together as a society to help those having identity issues.
