Existing Leadership Process

Currently I am working as a project team member in a construction company in USA. The working environment in this company is poorly implemented. In terms of developing a better working environment, it is important to develop an effective working culture. This is important to manage the workforce and the nature of performance of the employees. In this work environment, the project leaders have been identified to not communicate with the employees properly. Communication is an important thing in case of developing a successful working culture. Apart from that, proper training is not provided to the employees to develop their performance skills. As mentioned by Akhwaba, Bowa & Keiyoro (2020), performance skills of employees should be refurbished with time to increase productivity.

Improvement of the Process

Being within this organization, I have learned that I have to develop these areas in my own leadership characteristic for my career development process. Having a good communication with my team members can be effective for developing a potential team. As opined by Novo, Landis & Haley (2017), communication with the team mates can help to identify their issues and motivate them. Apart from that, this can be an effective step in decision making as employees can be able to provide some good ideas.

In terms of communication skills, I will maintain honesty and integrity within the workplace. As per the opinion of Akhwaba, Bowa & Keiyoro (2020), good communicators can lead a team successfully. In terms of keep employees motivated toward their work and developing a good team performance, they should e provided with enough career development opportunities. Training is the best option in this case. Delegation and empowerment is a major aspect of leadership process, that I will follow in this workplace to be a better leader.

Risks and Experiments Going to be Taken

Communicating with the employees frankly or maintaining a friendly environment within the workplace is effective for developing a better workplace for the team members. In this area, they will be able to open up and share their thoughts and ideas. Apart from that, in a friendly environment work pressure may seem lighter that can motivate in performing better. But this thing can affect in an adverse manner. The working manner of employees depends on their nature and psychology too (Musembi et al. 2018). In this aspect, it can be stated that, if employees are will take the friendly environment as granted for work casually, it will affect the overall team performance and the profitability of the company.

Hence, this will be a threat for my reputation as a leader. An experimental session of creating a friendly environment for 2 months can be done by me to understand the psychology of my team mates. The training process that I have mentioned to be continued can be threat too as trainings should be provided to the employees as per their needs. Different people have expertise in different area and same is true for loopholes. Hence, I will try to analyze the needs of the employees as per their performance basis and individual training session will organize. However, this can be risky as this is a time taking process and this can lead the project wok to delay.

Potential Benefits

The two major factors that have been identified here as the major factors for leadership development are effective communication with team mates and continuous training program for the employees (Sousa & Rocha, 2019). In this aspect, it can be stated that, this can be an important aspect for proper risk identification and manage the risk by discussing with employees. In case of taking any decision, employees can share their thoughts and ideas easily in this process and effective decision making can be done. Apart from that, this can help to develop a social relationship which motivates the employees to follow the instructions of the leaders and increase their dedicative nature toward productivity (Chen & Rybak, 2017). Problem solving processes of the project management can be an ease in this way.

Training is the process of developing working skills of the employees. Apart from that, this can help them to grow and they can trust on their leader. Self development and increasing knowledge is a major factor that is prioritized by any employees and in that case while they can see career growing opportunities within their workplace they become more motivated toward work. This can impact on productivity and profitability of the company. Apart from that, skill development can help in better performance too. Hence, it can be stated that these mentioned processes will be effective for the benefits of the company and for my career development as a team leader.
