Just one more episode, Josh thought to himself as he loaded up another hour-long episode of House of cards on his laptop It was noon and the assignment was dated at midnight. Three weeks prior his teacher had given out the short story assignment the AP English students were tasked with writing a short story based on their lives. It was supposed to be an easy and relaxing assignment to conclude the year; every day the students had the entire class period to work on their short stories. Regardless, Josh was a fooli He wasted the class periods daydreaming and browsing Reddit, unlike most other students. That night, before Josh knew it, several hours had flown by and he had finished season three He decided to finally begin the assignment, but after several minutes of staring at a blinking cursor, he felt that it was time for a well-deserved study break.
He called up his friend Nathan to come over and play cards. “Josh, do you really have time to be messing around?” Nathan asked. “Of course I do! I’ll just play a couple of rounds”, Josh replied. Before he knew it, it was dinner time. It was dinner time, so Josh and Nathan were feeling very hungry. Because of this, they decided to go to Denny’s because they loved eating breakfast foods for dinner. Josh was enjoying the pancakes so much that before he knew it his meal had vanished and more importantly, it was dark outside. “Josh, you really should get started on the assignment!” Nathan said sternly, “I‘ll work on it later, I can’t work efficiently after eating a big meal; besides, the paper isn’t due for another six hours!” Josh replied. Josh was feeling guilty for eating so many fatty foods so he decided to go play frisbee with Nathan. Before he knew it, it was half past ten, so he went back home to finally work on his short story. Josh spent the next several minutes staring blankly at a blank Microsoft Word document.
He could not think of anything interesting from his life worth writing abouti Before he knew it, he was feeling drowsy and his eyelids were soon closed, Before he knew it, it was daytime; the deadline had long passed. Unfortunately, his teacher Mr. Freeze had a no tolerance policy on lateness for this particular assignment, so Josh automatically received a zero out of fifty and failed the class. After that fateful assignment, Josh never again procrastinated and always listened to his friend Nathan who is always right, If the story was made into a movie, it would be called The Short Story The tagline would be: Some things arejust not meant to be put off. The main character Josh would be best represented by actor Seth Rogan because he would capture Josh’s laziness and laid back personality that is displayed in movies such as The Green Hornet and Pineapple Express. Nathan would be best represented by Mel Gibson, This is because I envision Nathan as stern but nice and humorous similar to the roles that Mel Gibson portrays in his movies.
