Nelson Mandela was once quoted saying, ‘Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.’ I believe that these words sum up nicely why I want to attend college. Actually, if you allow yourself a moment to think about this quote deeply, pondering on each word as you ingest the meaning, you might find yourself realizing that this quote also sums up the general reason any one person might want to go to college. Human beings seek higher education in an ambitious effort to change the world; whether that is to change their personal world or expand that vision to include the vast world around us. Education is the most all-powerful tool (or weapon as Mandela puts it) available to us today. Going to college will allow me to not only obtain this tool, but gain a better understanding of how to use my higher found education to not only benefit myself, but society as well.
Aristotle once said, “The educated differ from the uneducated as much as the living from the dead.” He believed that in order to truly understand life a human being should seek a higher level of knowledge. I agree with this statement. The courses I will take during my college career, the books I will study, as well as the knowledge I will gain from nature will allow me to continue to develop logical and critical thinking skills needed to be successful in the world we know today; as well as the world which is yet to be. The education I will gain by attending college will allow me to reach my individual potential.
Education is a weapon. Education is the tool. Education is the means which enables one to truly understand life itself. Education is that one thing which has preserved the past and spearheads the way of the future. Attending college is the best way to obtain an education. Attending college is the best way to ensure that my future is one inundated with successes and opportunities. College opens your eyes to see the vast opportunities which are before you. It opens up a world of opportunities in every sector. I want to attend college in order to take advantage of the tools that will be awaiting me the moment I step foot on campus. I want to attend college in order to not only change my world, but to make the world better for those around me.
