We consume information in different ways sometimes we take information without consent and use it on materials that we are not supposed to be using them on. Plagiarizing is a form of lying and cheating. We can say that we sometimes take advantage of our sources and use them when we are not supposed to. We take information from websites and from authors and we do not give them the credit and pretend like it is our work. When we are given a paper to write we are supposed to give credit to website we have used. Sometimes we are able to use information that we have learned, but we have to use it in our own words and make sure we understand the lecture or material that we are being taught. We cannot just get information on things without giving credit to whoever wrote a paper, book research, etc.

Plagiarism is an offense to a lot of institutes especially in education. Ever since media we have an advantage of getting information that we may not have understood, but sometimes we use other’s work and think it is our own. We use an exact statement from a book or website and copy it word for word and use it as if it was our own ideas. We have to make sure that we are able to cite our sources. We can use an exact quote or idea from one’s work, but when we give credit to the writer. We cannot plagiarize is exams. When we are given the chance to use notes we cannot take advantage of that. We use notes that have been given by the teacher or that have been taught in class. We can use sources to expand our knowledge, but we cannot use them to copy and paste things. If we are given the chance to use sources and use notes we have to use them correctly and not take advantage.

In the education system plagiarism is most common. We see people using statements on their papers that are not cited. Sometimes we do not cite something correctly, but their is a difference in trying to cite it than not cite it at all. The education system takes plagiarism seriously. We cannot turn in a paper or an exam that has content that others own. Like I said we can use sources in order to expand our knowledge, or just ask the teacher if you do not understand the lecture. One as a student does things that usually think that will get them a good grade, but sometimes we just take advantage of it. We think it is okay, but in reality it is not. We cannot take content from other people’s hard work and just put it into ours thinking it is okay. We sometimes are asked by teachers whether they want us to cite something or if they don’t. A summary of a book does not really have to be cited because you are using your own knowledge to be able to write that paper.

We think that plagiarism is easy, but it is something hard to avoid. Plagariasim is a form of dishonesty and sometimes students do it intentionally and sometimes others unintentionally. We can sometimes see it as a form of being lazy to actually use our brain. Sometimes we do not understand what plagiarism is and sometimes we do. A student might not know how to cite something correctly or not know how they can use information without plagiarizing. Plagariasing on a test is considered to be even more bad. If you can say we are cheating in a way using something straight from the book without consent. If you do not understand the lecture or something is going on let the teacher know that you do not understand something. We can avoid plagariasim, but we continue to do it.

There are many students who do it throughout a whole course and there is some who do it once without wanting to. We need to avoid using other people’s content and using on our own things and pretend like it is our own work. We think it is okay when in reality it is not. We need to understand that we cannot take advantage of our sources. We need to give credit to those who worked hard for a book or for a website. Plagiarizing is just a form of lying on cheating for someone to be able to get good credit for it. Plagiarizing has gotten worse over the years, because we have media.

When technology advances students have more resources to use and makes them have more of a chance to be able to cheat or be dishonest in their work. We cannot continue to do it even if it is not meant on purpose. Like I said plagiarism is just a form of using someone’s hard work and use it on yours. Either we are lazy to do our own work or we do not want to ask the teacher for help.

We can say that plagiarism in the academic aspect is unethical. We can say that plagiarism is not morally right. It is not a crime in such situation, but it is copyright. We usually see plagiarism happen more in the academic industry. We can usually see it in businesses and other industries, but the more common one is in the academic industry. Students take advantage of their resources, and do not know how to use them correctly. Some understand what plagiarism is and some do not.
