The world of smart people

Imagine living in a world where everyone was intelligent people who got all the education they need. That would be a great world. Education can be thought of differently by many people. Some may think of it as a good thing while others would think badly of it. Although people have their own opinion of things, a college education should be valued more. There are lots of things on why it should be valued more. College education gives helps people become more responsible and reliable. Even though a college education should be valued, it doesn’t help with some jobs that you end up being in. Even with the cons, education can give you something less to worry about.

How education can impose responsibilities on you?

CA college education is worth more than most people think. It gives people more responsibilities and makes them more reliable. It helps people become more responsible and reliable since they have a lot of things to take care of and worry about. In the “Remarks by the President in a National Address to America’s Schoolchildren speech, it said, “Every single one of you has something to offer. And you have a responsibility to yourself to discover what that is. That’s the opportunity an education can provide.” (Obama 69). This shows how education can give you responsibilities. You must do which is to go to school, listen to your parents/teachers, and work hard. “none of it will make a difference, none of it will matter unless all of you fulfill your responsibilities unless you show up to those schools unless you pay attention to those teachers unless you listen to your parents and grandparents and other adults and put in the hard work it takes to succeed.” (Obama 69). This shows the responsibilities people have when they get an education. They start working harder and listening more to people. Also, it makes them more reliable because they will start thinking that people are relying on them more. It also said in the speech, “don’t ever give up on yourself, because when you give up on yourself, you give up on your country.” (Obama 71). “So don’t let us down. Don’t let your family down or your country down. Most of all, don’t let yourself down. Make us all proud.” (Obama 72). This shows how people would have more people depending on them so they become more reliable. They would start thinking about how they can contribute to the world even if they don’t know it.

Is College Worth It?

Although college can benefit you, it might not be worth it. You might just go but end up dropping out. It said in an article, “Yet if they start college and then drop out, they feel like total failures.”(Reich 82). This shows how most people who end up dropping out of college think it’s not worth it since they take however many years of school and they just drop out when they’re almost done. Also, you might just be left with a big debt and a bad job. In an article, it said that “Even if they get the degree, they’re stuck with a huge bill — and maybe paying down thmaybeudent debt for years. And all too often the jobs they land after graduating don’t pay enough to make the degree worthwhile.”(Reich 82). This shows how getting a college education isn’t quite worth it since they’ll just end up paying their debt from a job that isn’t even good. You never know what might happen in life. It might not be worth it since you might be in the same job as someone who didn’t get a college education. In another article, it said, “There are plenty of rewarding and important jobs and careers that do not require college. And due to the sluggish economy, there may be more graduates than the current job market needs or a temporary “college bubble.” Jobs for recent grads are harder to find, and salaries are lower, but that won’t last forever.” (Rotherham 84). This shows how even if they have a college degree, they still might end up in the same job as someone who doesn’t since there aren’t as many jobs open currently. Even with the cons, a college education should still be valued by people.

Why you should value a college education?

College education should still be valued by people. It can give people something less to worry about. It said shown in the presentation, “Why Go?”, “Here are the 5 reasons why education still pays. Greater wealth, more security, better health, close family, and a stronger community.” (“5 Ways Education Pays” 63). College education can give you a higher salary and more security. In the video it said, “You could earn an average of $22,000 more per year than a high school graduate. You can also earn an average 63% more in hourly wages.” (“5 Ways Education Pays” 63). This shows how if you have a college education, you’ll be getting a higher salary and that you earn more hourly. With more securities, people would have a lower unemployment rate, and a higher chance of getting a job they want. It says in “Education Still Pays”, “For example, as the chart shows, the unemployment rate drops with every additional level of education attained. Workers with less education than a high school diploma had the highest unemployment rate (11 percent), while those with a doctoral degree had the lowest rate (2.2 percent).” (64). This shows how the employment rate for people with a college education is higher than for those without one. People wouldn’t have to worry about whether or not they’ll get a job.

People have different thoughts about college education. Some might think that it’ll be good for them while others think that it’s not even good for them. A college education is worth more than people think. It gives people choices on what they want to be. Although education is good, it could be just a waste of time and not worth it. A college education can make you less worried about your future. Even with the cons and pros of a college education, people should still value it.
