Margaret Fuller was born on May 23,1810. During her younger years she spent most of her time leaning school on the farm she lived on. When she was young, she was more mature than most kids her age. She was like this because her father was very harsh on her with education, he always wanted her to do the best she could. With all the young learning at her age, it impaired her health. She was also educated at the Boston Lyceum for young ladies. She studied here from 1821-1822. She was an amazing reader, and became well known for being one of the best read people in New England.
During Margaret’s adolescence and adulthood, she started to get into the literary world. She wrote over thirty books in her lifetime, including “Women in the Nineteenth Century” published in 1845, is one of her most known books she wrote. After learning all she could from her father, she began to teach at Bronson Alcott Temple school in Boston from 1836-1837. In 1839, she published a translation of “Eckermann’s Conversations with Goethe. In her most cherished project (which was never actually completed), she wrote a biography of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. She had many important friendships including, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Elizabeth Peabody, William Ellery Channing, and Orestes Brownson. From 1840 to 1842 she was the editor of the Dial, which is a magazine launched by the Transcendentalists. During her time she wrote poetry, reviews, and articles for the quarterly.She died July 19, 1850 in Fire Island, New York. The cause of her death is due to her ship wrecking and she drowned.

At the time, most girls didn’t receive education, but Margaret’s father wanted her to have one. Timothy Fuller, was a prominent Massachusetts lawyer-politician who, disappointed that his child was not a boy, educated her rigorously in the classical curriculum of the day. From 1824-1826 she was under her fathers teaching she then returned to Cambridge and her course of reading. Her intellectual precociousness gained her the acquaintance of various Cambridge intellectuals, but her assertive and intense manner put many people off. After her father moved her and her family to the farm is Massachusetts, she found herself isolated and forced to help educate her siblings and run the household for her ailing mother.

In 1836 to 1837 fuller also taught for Bronson Alcott in Boston and then at a school in Providence, Rhode Island. During this time she continued to expand both her cognitive accomplishments and personal colleagues. Fuller then moved to a suburb of Boston, (Jamaica Plain) in 1840. She became a contributor from the first issue and its editor. In 1845, she published her feminist classic, “Woman in the Nineteenth Century”.
