Mechanical Engineering subjects have always intrigued me throughout my study and work life. It is this immense interest in this field that motivates me to pursue graduate study in Mechanical Engineering. My undergraduate study in Mechanical Engineering helped me build a strong foundation and laid the necessary groundwork for pursuing graduate studies.I developed keen interest in subjects like Material Science, Fluid Mechanics and Heat and Mass Transfer. I was eager to continue my Graduate Studies after my Bachelor degree, but due to personal reasons, I started working as a graduate trainee engineer in an automobile company.
However, I had a passion for design and engineering work, due to which I later joined as a Piping Engineer in an Engineering Consultancy office in India’s largest Petroleum Company (Reliance Industries Ltd). During my 13 years of experience as a Piping Design Engineer, I have worked in Onshore & Offshore Oil &Gas Process facilities, Refineries, Chemicals and Utilities;Mechanical Piping & Pipelines Engineering for projects like Pre-FEED, FEED, PMC, EPC, Detail Engineering, Revamp/Extensions, Commissioning, Retrospective Engineering (Brown field), Decommissioning, Maintenance & Service contracts in India and Saudi Arabia.
I have a wide range of experience in Piping material selection, Piping corrosion, Piping layout and Pipe stress analysis among others. During my tenure as Senior Piping engineer in Wood, Saudi Arabia, I worked closely with the corrosion engineer for selection of piping material for sour service/H2S environment in complaince with NACE MR 0175 for various Saudi-Aramco Oil fields due to which I have taken a special interest in H2S induced cracking like Sulphide stress cracking,Stress corrosion cracking and Hydrogen induced cracking etc.I found the subject very captivating and I’m eager to further enhance my knowledge and carry out research in this field.

However, due to Project deadlines and work pressure, it is not always possible to dwelve further in these subjects for satisfy the thrist for more knowledge.Due to this reason, pursuing a graduate study in Mechanical Engineering has always been on my mind. I am a good team player and always encourage problem-solving through discussion and exchange of ideas. I am a fast learner, mostly self-regulated and capable of independent work. I believe the Pipeline Engineering Center at UofC is a very unique program which can help students with prior experience in Piping/Pipeline to benefit greatly.
I have visited the web page of the university several times, and I’m quite impressed by the credentials of the faculty in Mechanical and Pipeline Engineering like Prof. Frank Cheng, Prof. Ron Hugo and other distinguished faculty members whose research areas seem very attractive to me. By undertaking graduate studies at UofC,I can venture out more in subjects that I am passionate about and carry out research in the fields of Pipeline Corrosion and multiphase/Slug flow. I believe that the excellent research facilities available in UofC coupled with my industry experience will go a long way and be a landmark for my career. I am confident that with my sincerity and dedication, I shall be able to make meaningful contribution to the on going researchwork at your esteemed University.
