The 2nd amendment has had its round of controversy. On one side guns are bad and kill people and on the other guns don’t kill people, people do. Today I’ll show you how open carry can help reduce crime and what the amendment exactly is. I’ll also mention why the law was made in the first place. I hope you enjoy and will learn something.

Some people think that because guns are around that crimes will be on the high end and just mess everything up. This leads to a Question-What if a dude was gonna robe a bank with a Glock but saw 6 people inside with a gun. Would he rob it? No, of course not that would be instant death (or a long stand of). That my friends, is called open carry. What it means is that if you have the right permits, you can carry a gun legally. So, if most people had an open carry at places that robbers are likely to rob they are least likely going to rob it. Heck in the states with open carry, according to Matt Gaetz, “The states that have open carry the crime rates drop 23%. (Gillian and Sherman)” That’s pretty good.

While writing this I’ve realized that not all people know what the 2nd Amendment is. “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. (Legal Information Institute)” A militia is an army made from the people. When it says, “security of a free state (Legal Information Institute)” it’s talking about how if a state is attacked, the people can help protect it. Now, when it says, “bear arms” it doesn’t necessary means guns. It can be any sort of weapon. It’s also the right of people to carry the weapons (for the rest of the article it will be referred to as guns.) which means that you don’t have to have a gun. It also says that it can’t be infringed, in other words we can’t actively break that law.

Y’all need to remember why this law was made. It was all for protection against incoming countries who wanted a slice of America. Back then we didn’t really have an official army to protect us so we had to make small militias. Towns even made their own. Now think about today. There are reasons to be afraid and be an optimist won’t change any of that. Sometimes we need to fight back and luckily there is a law for that. The last 2 paragraphs were about how guns can be used for good.

In conclusion, Guns can be used for protection and can be used to intimidate. Thanks to the 2nd amendment and open carry, crime rates have dropped. On the other hand, there is the argument that “Gun kill people” and stuff. Let’s say that a person has Autism. Would you blame the child for having the disorder? I wouldn’t (I’d blame God but that’s a different subject so I don’t go to deep). Don’t blame the gun for a death, blame the people. Do you see a handgun go to prison? No. When 9/11 happened did everyone blame the Twin towers or even the plane? No we blamed the Taliban and Osama bin Laden. Makes sense? If it doesn’t, I have more anlages to make them make more sense.
