The citizens of the colony of Massachusetts snuck onto a boat and threw all of their tea over the boat into the water to waste it, So they didn’t have to be taxed without representation. Their saying during this time was “no taxation without representation.” This was one of the many acts of civil disobedience leading to the War for Independence, establishing the United States of America as a sovereign state.
The colony of massachusetts expressed their anger by dressing up as indians and sneaking on to the british ships then they began dumping all of the tea on the british ships into the water to waste it so they could show their hatred to the taxes they were forced to pay on the tea. Another way that they expressed themselves is by boycotting the british goods which means purposely not buying any good from Britain so they couldn’t make any money. This made the British shut down the port which was on the Boston Harbor.
All the tea dumped into the water began to smell for a long time. Britain also shut down the the ports on the boston port until all of the tea that was dumped got paid off which was placed in the intolerable acts. All that the Intolerable acts did was upset the citizens even more the Massachusetts Government Act, the Administration of Justice Act,Quebec Act,and the Quartering Act were all added after the intolerable acts. American colonists responded with by having a lot of protests and also had a resistance. The Boston Tea Party was the first big act of civil disobedience in America thanks to the colonists. The impact of the Boston Tea Party was huge.
The protest of The Boston Tea party was a example of civil disobedience by the colonists first did not pay their taxes, and they protested it. The main reason that they protested the taxes is because they didn’t get any representation in the parliament. Which is where the term”no taxation without representation“ comes from. Secondly, They kept information about what was going on in the colonies away from Britain by exchanging letters. Lastly they dumped the tea into the ocean to show that they didn’t want to follow the law of paying the taxes, and it more than likely was illegal to dump all of the tea into the water. All of these are breaking laws they refused to follow which is how it is Civil disobedience.
