I decide to choose this book because I love the dogs and the cover of this book attracted me to take for myself to enjoy reading book. Moreover, I love everything that is belong to nature including animal and plants. I am not afraid any kinds of animal or plant in our life because all of them are my friends. Therefore, the title of the book – The call of the wild” makes me more motivation to sign in it.
Three first chapters is surrounding the life of Buck and some of the other one. Living in his house in California as a king and being secured by Judge Miller that makes Buck shocked when he has been stolen by the gardener. Many dangerous situations happen with him after that; however, Buck is smart enough to overcome those problems. He looks everything carefully and has experience to save his life. When I read the sections which Buck is beaten, I am extremely angry with it. I stop this book sometimes because I can not do anything for Buck at that time. I hope that Buck will be more happy in the future like he used to be.
In the next chapters, the comparison for the mastery position is showed more detail by Jack London. The fights between Spitz and Buck are more and more stressful. Both of them showed their strength to prove their power more. To win Spitz – the good fighter and the winner across the Northland, Buck has to be more intelligent than Spitz. Moreover, Buck will come only when he had what he want and he has become a mastery after that. The following actions of Buck makes the reader love him too much. He looks like a mature man by his decisions, his thinking and so on. All of actions which he does are logically. The other people in leader position is necessary to learn following him.
Furthermore, the setting of this book has a high mobility so it can make readers interested in the background because the story is only about Buck’s life. Moving too much but it is mostly in Alaska where Buck must be hard-working all day so everyone loves the dogs sled team more while they have to work and face with the severe weather condition during nearly three thousand kilometers.
At the end of the story, the other tone is differently used with during the whole previous six chapters. Every word makes reader have to read slowly so as to think more about their life. Actually, human beings is really intelligent to compare with others; however, sometimes, their thinking and action is worse than other animals. For example, hunting or destroying the wild or nature of people with animals is hard to accept and it is developing more and more.
“Buck is not always alone” doesn’t mean that Buck is not alone and Buck is never alone. The end of “The Call of the Wild” by Jack London is really excellent for everyone to read and think about our life more. Hope that there will be many people love this story as much as me in the future and the green life will be maintained forever.
Personal Reflection
During “The Call of the Wild”, I make myself passionate with the English books too much. Before reading this book, I used to think that English books were extremely difficult to get information and understand the feeling of characters and authors because there are many differences and barriers in a lot of aspects in culture, language, society and so on. To me, choosing a book has never been easy and “The Call of the Wild” is also.
I have to spend much time signing in this book; however, I feel I don’t regret with my decision. I read this book not only completing my portfolio project but also enjoying with them. Almost my weekends are for reading and thinking about this book. I can not stop reading at any parts of the story because I really love dogs but I can not do anything to protect them especially Buck.
Moreover, the situations which go on and go on throughout every words of Jack London make me can not allow myself skip or stop it in anyway, I can only read until the end of the story. Many things I read, many lessons I get. I think too much about the social problems surrounding our lives throughout Buck’s life because I found many similarities between human being’s life and Buck’s life.
Therefore, I wonder that “what is the differences between human and other animal?”, “what did human do for the others?” and many questions like that. I think I can be given the full of grades for my reading and thinking about “The Call of the Wild” book by Jack London. I still hope that more and more people can approach this book and studying more about this to maintain our lives as wonderful as possible.
