In this essay, the main topic being discussed will be how significant was the role of the Youth during Nazi-Germany Third Reich, from 1933-1945. By providing facts and information about all the youth groups in Nazi-Germany, it will seem clear that the Hitler Youth played the most essential role in the rise of power in Germany. Not only that, but the Hitler Youth also played a major role in World War 2, demonstrating their superiority in soldiers, their knowledge of the war, and how important they were in the German 1000 Year Reich plan. The Hitler Youth, the Edelweiss Pirates, the White Rose Society, and the Swing Kids were the main Nazi ideology opposition and in favor groups during the 1000 Year Reich Era in Germany, and played the most important roles of the youth in Germany, endangering their life’s to do so.
During this era of Germany, more specifically from during the 1920s through the 1940s, Germany was in a bad state financially and had a vulnerable and broken society due to their loss in World War 1, which caused the Treaty Of Versailles to take in place. The German society was dumbfounded, they weren’t expecting to lose among the Allies in the war and definitely weren’t expecting the loss of their land, the war guilt among them, and the loss of money due to reparations. The Treaty of Versailles left Germany humiliated, broken, and vulnerable to any outer threats; To the German society, it was relatively unfair and caused anger and frustration among the people of Germany. This act made a perfect scenario for Adolf Hitler, gaining popularity throughout Germany and initiating his rise to power in Germany and eventually the Nazi society.

The Education System during Nazi Germany was drastically modified to accommodate Hitler’s Nazi Ideology being implemented among the youth, not only was the learning system in schools operated to do so but also into Anti-Semitism, which was a major issue during that time. The Nazi involvement in schools got so severe that teachers had to join the Nazi Teacher Association and were at risk of losing their job if they commented a bad opinion on the Nazi government in front of their students.

Girls enrolled in the movement at the age of 10 and joined the main wing the League of German Maidens or the Bund Deutscher Madel at the age of 14. The girls took fitness, indoctrination classes, and learned how to look after a family while in the camp. They mainly studied home economics, eugenics, and PE. Boys enrolled in the movement at the age of 6 and joined the upper wing, Deutsches Jungvolk, at the age of 10. Not much time had passed since the start of the Hitler Youth before Hitler decided to make it mandatory for all kids to join the program. More than 90% of German boys had joined by 1939, they mainly took fitness and indoctrination classes, fired guns, and marched while in camp.

Due to the forced admission of all Germany kids into the Hitler youth, several opposition/resistance groups were formed agaisnt the unfairness of Hitler’s rules. The opposition groups agaisnt Hitler in Nazi-Germany were exponentially significant since they were the only counter-resistance too Nazism. More specifically, groups such as the White Rose Society, the Swing Kids, and the Edelweiss Pirates were all Nazi-opposing groups. The Edelweiss Pirates reacted to the discipline of the Hitler Youth by daubing Anti-Nazism slogans, and opposed Hitler overall, often hosting several activities to get away from the stifling control of the Nazi. Not only that, but the Edelweiss Pirates were the only group to take violent actions agasint Hitler policies, which led to several deaths throughout their violent attaks to Nazi-troops. The White Rose Society coordinated their efforts towards Civil Rights and opposition to Nazi policies by with-holding meetings and spreading out the message of the malifecence of Nazism. Lastly, the Swing Kids, better known for their movement agaisnt Hitler, defied Hitler’s order and resisted in a nonviolent way by using in their favor music and dance to rebel his orders.
Hitler’s “1000 Year Reich” was a plan about his dream to become leader of Germany’s third grand empire during that era for 1000 years. In reality, Hitler’s empire lasted for 12 years, initiating in 1933 and ending in 1945, and failed miserably in accomplishing his dream. The “1000 Year Reich” consisted of the Nazi Party rising too power in Germany, and as a result, Hitler targeted Germany’s youth to establish them with the Nazi ideology and create a new generation of loyal and strong Nazi supportes to accomplish his dream. Eventhough Hitler did manage to initiate the “1000 Year Reich”, his command as leader didn’t lost and eventually got overwhelmed by opposing forces and was forced to bring to an end his dream.
As mentioned before, the “1000 Year Reich” plan massively consisted on the Hitler Youth support, and caused them to have a major role during World War 2 as Germany’s main war support. During World War 2, Hitler reccured to his last measures to ensure his victory to Germany, that including using the Hitler Youth members and establishing them as troops in the upcoming battles. More specifically, the Hitler Youth troops were stationed all around Germany’s outer posts to defend the country from the upcoming attacks from the opposing enemies.
This action was succesfull when established and demonstrated the effictiveness of the Hitler Youth Program overall, but it didn’t last as expected. Eventually, the Hitler Youth Toops came to be overwhelmed by the enemy forces and led to an almost complete extinction of the HY troops, leading to hundreds of thousands of young civilians deaths, and the upcoming defeat of Germany. Not only were they a whole generation of loyal Nazi soldiers, but they also demonstrated to play a key part of Hitler’s plan and why they, out of all the other young groups in Germany, played the most significant role.
The “1000 Year Reich” was not the only plan Hitler had in mind while his ruling in Germany during 1933-1945, Hitler also had a horrific plan to exterminate all Jews from Germany and it’s surrounding countries. Mostly known as Anti-Semitism, it is the belief or hostile behaviour agasint Jewish people, also considered as a heavy stereotype against people with Jewish blood. This term benefited the Hitler Youth Program by further involving them within Hitler racial ideology about anti-semitism, which is another reason why it was heavy implemented in Germany. Due to Hitler’s hatred toward Jews, he utilized anti-semitism and his power in his advantage to segregate Jews and blame them for Germany’s loss in WW1, initiating his plan to erradicate them, demonstrating the masive role it also played during this time period.
Overall, it seems clear that the Hitler Youth, compared to the other yout groups played the most essential role during the whole “1000 Year Reich” era in Germany. Not only were they always included in the Nazi plans but they also demonstrated an essentially high level of effectiveness during World War 2, which compared to the other groups, had a more significant impact on society. In comparison to the other groups, (White Rose Society, Edelweiss Pirates, Swing Kids Movement) their whole efforcts had an enormous effect on Germany society overall, making history by being the only groups to oppose Hitler’s powerful ruling in Germany and aiming for the liberty of Jews.
In the other hand, the Hiter Youth had en enormous impact by the massive participation in World War 2, sacrificing themselves to the Nazi Empire and defending Germany until their last man was down in the battlefield, demonstrating their impresive loyalty to Hitler.
