For every Christian they look to Jesus as their role model, this is due to him being sinless. Jesus lived a life of teaching, preaching, practising and providing principles which are to be emulated by his followers. It is through his prayer, service and his love and forgiveness, that provided a framework for all Christians.
Prayer
Jesus is a role model through how and why we pray. It is through the gospels that Christians get an insight to Jesus’ life with prayer, he prayed before meals, prayed for others, prayed for help and had private and shared prayer. In the biblical reference Matthew 6:5-11 it states ‘But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you’ this quote teaches Christians how one should pray and it is through that that you will be.
Love and Forgiveness
Jesus teaching’s concluded that forgiveness and love are central to a relationship with God. Throughout his life, Jesus showed and taught others about having unconditional love to one another and God, as well as the forgiveness to those who have done wrong. This is described in the biblical reference Mark 1 1:25 ‘ And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone forgive him, so that your father in heaven Father forgive your sins’, through this quote Christians are taught that you must truly forgive the failings of others, it is through forgiveness that God can fully forgive your sins. Jesus’ attitude to love and forgiveness was constantly tested, this is most evident in his forgiveness to his diciples who deceived and abandoned him and the forgiveness of those who excecuted him. It is through his teachings of love and forgivness that sets the example on how everyone should treat one another and live up to Gods wish.
