Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle is about apprehending the difficulties of modern industrial capitalism in which how the political ideas, reforms of the Progressive era, working-class life affected the urban industrial society in the late 19th and early 20th century. Sinclair story fits superbly into the changes of Progressive Era.

The issues that were being experienced by the people was been focused more to regain the society their ordinary choice. The arranging of a communist contention which pushed individuals to move their attitude and approach the government. This made every individual realize their government support for the citizens and residents of society. To guarantee that the poor can meet their fundamental human needs, for their nourishment.

It particularly centers around how the family lives and gives a focal point through which the person who reads can think on what exactly would have happened throughout the Progressive Era. At the east drift, there is the greater part of workers who supply meat which belongs to the Stockyards of the Chicago. Everyone has some difficulties throughout everyday life, despite the fact that these individuals appear to be cheerful. All the earmarks of being living it up, where the novella begins with a scene of a wedding party that is gone to by a larger part of the average workers.

For example, Mikolas somehow was able to maintain the damage to the working environment very successfully. They were thinking all the time about the presence of the people and the gifts they will bring for them at the wedding. And one of them was the lady of the hour and the spouse who had spent nearly all that they had on this wedding and are trusting the welcomed visitors.

In any case, things being what they are, most of the visitors go to the wedding without wedding presents and they think like no one really cares because they are here just for drinking and eating and enjoying at the wedding. The individuals who gave monetary gifts were excessively poor, they had expected something more but making it impossible to contribute something considerable and, thus, the wedding couple had a very loss of money that they had been spent on the wedding.

At the gathering, everything is going perfectly like the music is played drearily, so is the drinking. But here is what all matters are about the work that they have to go for. They have to be ready on time but the party is still going on till morning and which will lead to punishments because of delay to work. This is how the American dream stood out from individual wants share in the general public. Sinclair’s novel was not only successful but made a great impact on people so that they could understand the reality, the struggle, the effect of the people during the Progressive Era.

He sent a message to people about the characteristics of the individual on how to utilize money by investing in something good for the society. The rise of wealthy individual who had been known as the big person who had a specified direction to gain and control the economic development. This turned out to be the Industrial Revolution which involved all the aspects or the feature of the political, social and the economy of the society. There was nothing like that all working class were blessed because they were being held as the slaves who were working for the rich people. The reason behind this was because of the extremely large gap between the rich and the working-class people.

They had tried to be like one of them by working hard so that they could also be in the same section of the society but instead of that some wealthy people began to loot the public funds from everywhere so that the gap between the working-class would be the same and would never be accepted in the same society as they were. As per the conditions the people who worked had an expectation of greater wage but instead they had a very few or less wage. According to the working style, they had hope about the things that they had to work with in the factory but turned out to be different and figured out the heart-breaking things in the factory.

This all reflects to the trends of the Progressive Era. During the 1900s, how the style of an individual’s life changed. Sinclair makes visible and claims to the chance to understand the American Dream. By stressing the prevalent patterns that characterized the individual, the situation of the poor people by giving examples and how they treat them and the communism. This is what Sinclair claims his thought by providing examples to let people know about the truth of the society of how it was and how it is.
