To love something most and to be so good at it, but then have it stripped away from you when you least expect it’s tragic. soccer has been the sport of my choice since I actually have been a little kid. It had been the love of my life. I treasured everything about it from the sweet smell of the grass to the foremost exhilarating feeling of scoring a goal. The game of soccer was what motivated me to do better in everything I did. Several things have helped to form my identity to make me the person I’m. The most compelling thing that has shaped me is my culture. One of the most important pieces of my culture that has done this is my participation in sports. Out of the sports I play, high school soccer has shaped me the most. Soccer in high school shaped my identity by making me more social, a leader, and open-minded about diversity.
Soccer has guided me in many ways to become the person I’m. Particularly in high school, the game has showed me how to be much more cooperative and open with others. I loved soccer because I was also good at playing the sport as well as analyzing games, it keeps me closer to friends, and embrace other people culture. I never had a retardant staying close to my couch watching a soccer game all day. I always relished the prospect of waking up to a soccer game on every Saturday and Sunday. It had been such a delight. Being a dedicated soccer lover, I have a big dream of taking part in professionally even until now. I wanted to be like Messi the best soccer player in the world and even play in the same club he’s playing at, because he was my favorite soccer player at all time.
At age 17 in my senior year at high school, it was my first soccer tryout ever I was so excited, after couple weeks trying out I made it to the varsity team it was the best moment of my life. I was very excited because I believed it was the beginning of soccer career. Playing as a left wing forward, I enjoyed each and every minute on the pitch and also the atmosphere. My friends and family would always come to watch me play and cheer for me. That gave me tons of confidence as I kept thinking that one day, they would have to sit on the couch in front of the tv watching me playing professional soccer.
After Graduating from high school, my dream was to go to college and play soccer but unfortunately, it was impossible because the college that has a soccer team were too far away from home but still I have not yet given up my dream. Even though I don’t make it to Europe I still have hope in playing for the U.S MLS soccer team. As for now I play on a Spanish league on Saturday and Sunday, I really love it, it’s fun and it keeps me in a good shape even though we have not yet won any title. If I had never experienced this, I would never have gotten anywhere in life. Playing soccer has taught me a vital exercise that I will always remember.
