“Justice is a complex ethical principle, with meanings that range from the fair treatment of individuals to the equitable allocation of healthcare dollars and resources. In justice we can find the equitable distribution that brings burdens and benefits to all individuals in social institutions. (Feinsod & Wagner, 2008).” Justice in healthcare is very important in society today and there are a lot of people out in the world marching to get better health care for everyone.
Healthcare should be available for people all over the world. In America, without Healthcare, most of the people won’t live past the age of 65. This paper will present the reasons why everyone should be on healthcare in America and why justice in an important factor behind healthcare. Following that, I will present the importance of healthcare. The final focus of this paper will be on the justice the government shows towards the people of America.
Healthcare Should be Available to Everyone
Heath care should be available to everyone because it’s the right thing to do in my belief. Everyone should at least be able to get a basic healthcare insurance – the rich and the poor should be treated with justice; fairly. The rich can get the basic coverage for free and pay for more coverage that fits their lifestyle and what they need to support their families.

The poor can get the basic coverage that can help them day to day. It may sound like a small thing, but this would be major. Having help with insurance can save money and allow the ‘poor’ to be able to provide more for their families if needed or put a roof over their heads. During the year of 2017, 28.5 million people did not have health insurance – the number of uninsured people and the uninsured rate was equal to the number in 2016 (US Census, 2018).”
All Americans fall under the Declaration of Independence and as Americans we have unalienable rights. These rights are life, liberty and a pursuit of happiness – with these rights, we should have access to free healthcare. Not having health care can be hard, especially when a problem arises and we need help from the experts. The first thing people are doing in these new days are going straight to google and googling home remedies or the cheapest way to fix whatever problem or health issue they are having. This is good because it saves money and some of these remedies do work, but they only work for so long.
If free health care was offered to all the people of America, we would be able to reach out to a professional and get the expert help needed instead of just stopping the issue for a short time; we want to get these problems we are faces fixed for the long term, but we need help.
Everyone cannot afford the expenses of healthcare, we are all born in Christ, but the way our lives play out are different. We all get paid different and live at different standards of life to be able to afford to get by day after day. In 1948 the United States and 47 other nations signed the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Declaration stated that “everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of oneself and one’s family including medical care (Mackay, 2018).”
The Importance of Healthcare Insurance
No one plans to get sick or hurt, but most people need medical care at some point. Health insurance covers these costs and offers many other important benefits. Heath insurance covers essential health benefits that are critical to maintain health and treating illness and accidents. It also protects people form unexpected high medical costs, which allows them to pay less for covered in-network healthcare before they meet their deductible. People also get free preventative care, like vaccines, screenings, and some check-ups (HealthCare, 2018).
Having health insurance is very important to you individually and your family. Families can suffer without any health insurance – if a death happens in the family this would be way costlier as well if people do not have any health insurance to help pay for the funeral. It is very hard to survive in this world we live in today without health insurance.
Young adults and kids 25 and under depend on their parent’s health insurance while going through adult hood. This is very helpful for those young adults because they do not have to worry about the extra costs for health insurance until they reach the age limit on their parents’ insurance. This gives them enough time to complete their college education and hopefully land a job that provides them with health insurance.
Justice in the Government
The statement of the issue is that the government is being cold and heartless for not helping out the people in need, so they will have to survive on their own. Of all the arguments favoring the coordination and control of the healthcare industry by the central planning agency of the state, the healthcare-is-a-human-right argument seems to be the most convincing one, even to those who may favor a free market approach to the problem of coordination of scarce health resources.
How can we as a society possibly deny healthcare to someone in need? How can we turn away an orphan or a widow? How can we be so heartless? Doesn’t justice call for the assurance of healthcare to all, especially those in need? Shouldn’t the state assume that task (Vidal, 2010)? The government should put more effort and show more empathy to those in need; people are dying because they do not have money to pay for their medical needs.
For the government to not help an orphan, who is a child, what does that say about the country we live in? This child could possibly be adopted, but if the child is not in the system and the child decides to figure out life on his/her own, will we not try to help that child? More than likely, that child will have to figure out a way. It is costly for some parents to put their children on their insurance because the price of their insurance will go up.
The price increases much more for a son than a daughter because it is assumed that the son will be at a higher risk of injury than the daughter. It hard to support your family when your income can barely support you as an individual. The government should recognize that parents are struggling to pay for insurance; especially single parents.
The real question that troubles me, is why does the government not want to help the people out that really needs help? Is there something wrong with helping out parents that are struggling? There are many people in this world who give their last to help out others in tough situations by donating funds, food, or clothing; all through the kindness out of their hearts. How can people get the government to help these people in need, so they can have a better life to live instead of the one they have now? Will the government reach out to the people with kindness?
Warren Buffet who is the third richest person in America recommends that the government updates the earned income tax credit. This tax benefit helps the people who are working but not earning enough money. Buffet stated that “The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a benefit for working people with low to moderate-income. To qualify, you must meet certain requirements and file a tax return, even if you do not owe any tax or are not required to file (Clifford, 2018).” EITC reduces the amount of tax you owe and may give you a refund,” according to the Internal Revenue Service.
If the rich can give back, the government should as well. Helping the people that are struggling to survive can help and grow the country that we live in. There are many hard-working individuals out there who can’t afford healthcare insurance because they make minimum wage or lower. Being able to work hard, file your taxes and receive money back in your pockets just for the work you have put in for that year, helps tremendously; more people would be able to afford healthcare insurance.
Conclusion
If the government helped with healthcare and treatments for the people needed and their families, this would be a major change and very impactful for America. With the government helping with health insurance more lives can be prolonged and many more smiles would be shown.
There is always a need for change and with the government understanding the need and importance of healthcare for people; much change will be made in the U.S. With this change made and the government showing justice towards the people, the percentage of people who do not have health insurance should potentially go down.
