Businesses are often concerned with cultural diversity as a part of their organization. Business institutions have become increasingly varied over the last few years and some are attempting to build multicultural organizations. Although diversity brings with itself performance and ambition to a system, it also is known to have connections with ethical conundrums. These might consist of an approach towards distinctive people’s ethics, diversity’s effect in making moral judgments or conversations among people from different cultures.

Communication incorporates defining an employee’s new duties, assignments, and tasks that are required for strategy implementation. Also, it should be made clear why the responsibilities were changed and why fresh strategic choices were made. Hence clarifying the fresh functions, tasks, and responsibilities to be performed in an organization is called efficient communication. “Communication refers to the process by which information is transmitted and understood between two or more people”. Effective communication was a method that helped the sender of the message to receive feedback from the receiver of the message. Strategies are the backbone of any business organization. No organization can achieve desired results or outcomes without positively implementing strategies. Strategies at the organization are mainly implemented by the management; however, its success is measured by the compliance of the same by the workforce. Now, the main task underlying here is the development of a positive state of confidence and trust between the management and workforce so that the desired results from the strategy could be achieved.

Communication Skills

Communication skills play a critical role in this regard. If the management is owning appropriate communication skills, then they will not only able to clarify the required performance or activities completion to the employees, but they will also be able to encourage them for providing desired results. Cultural diversity provides the practical result that, as Pieterse et al. pointed out, individuals from distinct cultural backgrounds may have distinct patterns of faith, preferences, views, opinions about future occurrences, views about the role of data, and techniques of information processing, citing a review by several writers. Cultural diversity today concerns many companies, particularly those that work in distinct nations or have staff with a variety of views, backgrounds, habits, ages, languages, religions, and rituals.

When considering the clash between diverse traditions at the firm or showcase level, it is simple to drop at either of the extremes, hypothesizing all-inclusive morals, barring any social differences or a social relativism, dismissing any all-inclusive guideline. Cultural norms can not exist without communication. How messages are encoded, how they are perceived, the time and circumstance when the message is to be sent or not are all governed by culture. The effect of culture is forgotten when considering communication beyond borders. Although it is apparent that information technology is affected by culture, it can also be said that differences in culture can influence the inclination towards a certain communication approach. For example, while face-to-face communication might be acceptable in a certain culture, it might not be the same in another situation.

While Westerners tend to command processions in a meeting, the Chinese preferred being silent; the Chinese chose to have their conversations post the meeting. This aggravated the western leaders. This is why it is important to have clear communication guidelines in an organization. When the employees at the organization will be possessing good communication skills, then they will be able to coordinate with each other positively for gaining the required information to complete their tasks properly. Moreover, the communication skills will also develop a positive rapture between them that will be suitable for them in including all the possible factors in their decision-making criteria. It will support them in making the best decision as per the pertaining strategy of the organization in the direction of desired results.

The communication skills will also promote the transfer of knowledge and learning between the employees that will be effective for them in implementing organizational strategies most effectively. They will also be able to identify the best course of action to benefit the organization in a great manner. The communication skill will also foster a social culture at the workplace where all the team members will make a uniform effort towards implementing an organizational strategy to achieve desired results. The implementation of a strategy requires a certain control from the management side for making sure that all the aspects of the strategy are being fulfilled positively.

Otherwise, it is quite possible that the employees won’t be able to implement the strategy positively. Now, there is a certain issue existing at the organization in the form of various levels of the hierarchy. These levels of the hierarchy provide various principles and guidelines that become difficult for an employee to implement and often the employee is unable to implement the strategy positively. Communication skills are the only way out in this kind of situation. The communication skills deliver the organizational policies to the employees in an effective manner not only clarifying their job roles to them but also provides them with a certain pathway for consulting their seniors in case of any problem related to work or grievance.

Conclusion

It also develops a two-way knowledge-sharing process at the organization, where the employees feel comfortable in sharing their suggestions and feedback to the management resulting in figuring out the best solution for effectively implementing the strategy to achieve desired results. To conclude it can be stated that efficient communicational skills are of utmost importance in order to implement strategies effectively. All strategies should be communicated effectively to all stakeholders. Understanding cultural differences and creating communication channels to ensure everyone follows the same strategy in an organization will help in increased productivity and profits. Cultural diversity in today’s time cannot be escaped and it is important that businesses embrace it and use it to their advantage.
