While researching a multibillion-dollar company named Tesla founded in 2003. I took a closer look on how business operations are conducted on a day-to-day base. While Tesla is the leading company in the new trend of “Going Green” (Practices that can lead to a more environment freely and can help with environment sustain.) it also as a company focus on good morels and a safe workplace.

In order to make more sustainable and clean energy sources, the 21st century will need to adapt to the future and embrace safer methods for producing energy. With the five founders having the same objective in mind, Tesla was Born. With five company founds of tesla, each owning 20% of the company with CEO and co-founder Elon Musk. The other fours founders are Martin Eberhard, Jeffrey Brian Straubel or JB for sort, Marc Tarpenning and Ian Wright. Founders of Tesla. “Tesla’s mission is to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.

Tesla was founded in 2003 by a group of engineers who wanted to prove that people didn’t need to compromise to drive electric – that electric vehicles can be better, quicker and more fun to drive than gasoline cars. Tesla believes the faster the world stops relying on fossil fuels and moves towards a zero-emission future, the better.” (About Tesla, 1 July. 2003) Today, Tesla is striving with a net worth estimated between $1.7 billion and $2.9 billion dollars continuing to push the envelope and stay true to their core beliefs from when they start the company.

Historical Context

In the late 1870s and early 1880s the Current War was started. The Current War was about the Direct Current (DC) and the Alternating Current (AC). The Direct Current was founded by Thomas Edison.

Some examples of the DC are battery powered devices, Fuel and Solar cells, light emitting diodes and many more but one of the most ironic is an invention made but Edison is the electric chair. Edison would go on to hire Nikola Tesla to improve the DC. Edison promised Tesla 50 thousand dollars, which is equivalent to three million dollars today. While Tesla was finding a better way to improve the DC, he found a new way to harness the energy from the Alternating Current. Once found Edison refused to give Tesla the money for his work in order to keep face of the company and to boost profits of the DC. The Current War began. Edison would later go on an aggressive marketing campaign to discredit Tesla. Edison would go on to say that the AC would destroy houses and city.

Edison’s marketing campaign would even go as far as electring dogs, houses and even a elephant in public to win over and scare the mass’s to boost sales for the DC. Nevertheless Edison failed and with today 80% of the world using AC. Examples of the AC are car motors, radio signals, appliances and many more. In 2007, Thomas Edison’s company Consolidated Edison (Con. Edison) an energy provider of the DC, after 127 years later was finally settled with Con. Edison switching over to the AC. Finally after apprixally a century Nikola Tesla would win the Current War.With two turn-of-the-century geniuses inventors working together and then hating each, both inventors making a market on society.

In interview done with Elon Musk on Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla. Probably one of the biggest role models for Elon Musk is Thomas Edison because of his marketing. Edison took inventions to the market while Nikola Tesla did not. Musk also thanks Nikola Tesla because the Company Tesla is named after him. This is because the Tesla cars have an AC induction motor. Ideas and thoughts with Elon Musk. Elon musk focus most of his time at Tesla at three main things which are in design, engineering meetings or production is where 89% of his time goes.

“All Tesla vehicles are produced at its factory in Fremont, California, where the vast majority of the vehicle’s components are also made. To achieve our goal of having the safest factories in the world, Tesla is taking a proactive approach to safety, requiring production employees to participate in a multi-day training program before ever setting foot on the factory floor. From there, Tesla continues to provide on-the-job training and track performance daily so that improvements can be made quickly.” (About Tesla 2019) One of the biggest things that Musk focus on is finding a product that the consumer can love. With the consumer loving the car and spreading the word is basically how sales have increased. Tesla has been able to save money because of this because they aren’t spending money on advertisements and endorsements.

The top five cars traded in for a Tesla are Nissan Leaf, Honda, Honda Accord, BMW 3-series and Toyota Prius. In order to make more sustainable and clean energy sources, the 21st century will need to adapt to the future and embrace safer methods for producing energy. Other things Teals is doing. On June 12, 2014, “Elon Musk shocked the business world by revealing that Tesla Motors will not initiate patent lawsuits against anyone who uses their technology in good faith.” (Tesla) In April 2015, the powerwall and the powerack was announced to share holds. The powerwall is designed to harness energy from solar panels. “A self-powered home combines solar energy and Powerwall to independently power your home day and night. During the day, solar panels may produce more energy than your home uses. Powerwall stores that excess solar energy and makes it available on demand, even after the sun has set. Through the Tesla app, you will have full visibility into your self-powered home.”(Tesla April 2015)

The powerwall is a perfect fit for people that solely depend on the solar for their house. The powerwall is able to have up to nine powerwalls for maximum storage of energy. Staring at $3,500 this can have germanic effect on the environment. The powerpack is more of the business side approach. Staring at $10,000 the powerpack can hold up to 100 kwh.

Future Trucking

The trucking industry is next for Tesla. With apprixaly 15.1 million Semi trucks on the road, the industry is huge which is the perfect market for Tesla to inter in. In 2017, Tesla showcased two new semi trucks, Short range and an long range truck. In 2016, there were estimated 4,100 electric trucks on the road and is to supposed to grow to 70,600 in 2026.

Delivery companies and mail services the biggest purchasers, and most of the growth will come from Europe, China and the U.S. Many of UPS’s delivery routes require trucks to travel less than 100 miles per day, a range easily met by an electric truck. UPS has set a goal of having 25 percent of its fleet be made up of electric vehicles by 2020. The biggest problem is that the electric semi trucks can’t go near as far as a diesel truck. Some trucks are used for shorter routes, but for longer range like 300 miles they need more batteries. “Incentives are also enticing companies to add electric trucks to their fleets. Companies that buy or lease vans from Chanje are eligible for an $80,000 voucher per vehicle from the state of California, for example. France pays out 10,000 euros ($11,669) to buyers who replace diesel vehicles with electric ones.”(DEE-ANN DURBIN) Electric semi trucks still have a long way to go but the future looks promising.

A Green Earth

Our current energy sources include six different forms of energy. They standard of living depends highly on fossil fuels which is a very bad thing. Fossil fuels release a chemical compound called carbon dioxide (CO2). The six types of fuels are Coal, Natural Gas, Nuclear, Hydro, Wind and Solar. The three best energys on that list is Hydro, wind and being the best is solar. The sun releases huge amounts of energy so the key to the future is solar. Tesla has taken the “keys” and made a car. But tesla is also doing other things like the powerwall and the tesla panels. Tesla panels are ruffing that has a solar panel on it. If we stay with tesla’s plan then and convert to the gigafactory then with 160 million powerpacks we could power the United States.

With 2 billion powerpacks we could power the world. Gigafactory 1 is the new power plant which is basically like a farm of solar and power packs to run cities on solar power. The first one is being builded in Nevada, next to the Tesla factor. Tesla Motors headquarters is located in Palo Alto, California, and it has world-wide subsidiaries in North America, Europe and Asia. And it has 200 stores and galleries, 120 of which are outside the USA, and more stores will open in the future around the world. Tesla aims to sells high-performance electric cars. The first Tesla Roadster sport car being launched in 2008. The Roadster set the standard for electric cars.

In 2012, Tesla launches Model S, 0-60: 2.5s, Range: 315, Battery: 100 kwh. Tesla is now preparing to launch Model X, 0-60: 2.9s, Range: 289, Battery: 100 kwh. The reason the cars are so pricey is because of the lithium-ion batteries that the cars run off of. This is affecting Tesla badly but Tesla has a solution for this. The cost of Lithium-ion batteries per kWh is around $300-$400. In June of 2014, the start of construction for the Tesla Gigafactory began. This is the reason why Tesla is creating this gigafactory. According to teslamotors.com, if everything goes as planned battery prices are expected to drop at least 30% in 2017.
