The description of the 1900’s in paragraph 5-6 helps us understand the qualities of dystopian literature by giving the reader real-world facts, to back up the fact that dystopian literature could be the future of our world.”History was seen as one long forward march that would lead, inevitably, to perfection. However, throughout the 1900s, no matter how much humanity progressed, perfection was never achieved. The promises of technology and sociopolitical 6 theory only resulted in war, poverty, famine, and chaos.
As the century progressed, authors began to question the idea that societies should be attempting perfection at all by writing dystopian fiction. Dystopia stems from two Greek words that translate to ‘bad place.’ It describes a fictional setting that the author finds horrifying. But, unlike other genres, dystopias prod the audience into examining contemporary political and social structures. Dystopian authors argued that the pursuit of perfection will inevitably lead not to ‘no place’ but to a ‘bad place’, because of flaws within the system.’ People thought that the technological revolution would be the start of something good, they were false, technology only made things even worse.
The author uses ”fun-house mirrors” to help the reader understand dystopian fiction by helping the reader better relate to what she is trying to get us to realize. she uses this as an example to symbolize that our world could lead to a horrible dystopian world.”Walking through carnivals, we love to laugh at the versions of ourselves that appear in the fun-house mirror. We delight in taking selfies with filters that artificially bulge out our noses or shrink our mouths.
But sometimes these distortions 1 take on a deeper meaning and force us to notice things about ourselves. You don’t notice that your nose is a little large until you take a picture with that filter and compare. The version of yourself in the mirror shows you things about yourself.” This shows how everyday things we do are forcing people to act something they are not, which could lead to, I call it “The Age Of Dystopian.”
In ´´Harrison Bergeron´´ The government is what I would say, ´´The age of dystopian´´ because the government so controls the economy. The people were forced to be the same, to spare the feelings of the less stronger and smarter people. The government did this because they felt as if everyone should be considered equal. The government thought that making everyone equal would end all of our problems.Harrison Bergeron was a brilliant and energetic person that the government considered, a very dangerous person. He was so smart, that he broke free to show some bravery and strength.
Kurt Vonnegut conveys that the world is coming to an age of dystopian age. The author ”Kurt Vonnegut” shows in ”Harrison Bergeron” that our world could one day be controlled completely. He uses Harrison Bergeron to expose the people to the cruelty the government shows. It was then that Diana Moon Glampers, the Handicapper General, came into the studio with a double-barreled ten-gauge shotgun. She fired twice, and the Emperor and the Empress were dead before they hit the floor.
Diana Moon Glampers loaded the gun again. She aimed it at the musicians and told them they had ten seconds to get their handicaps back on. It was then that the Bergerons’ television tube burned out. Hazel turned to comment about the blackout to George. But George had gone out into the kitchen for a can of beer. George came back in with the beer, paused while a handicap signal shook him up. And then he sat down again. “You been crying,” he said to Hazel. “Yup,” she said. “What about?” he said. “I forget,” she said. “Something real sad on television.” This shows that people are being exposed to the government’s cruelty what the government is trying to do to everyone.
´´Wall-E´´ is considered a very dystopian movie because of it predict the future of what could be our world. The people are considered, ´´space babies´´ because they let themselves go so severely they don´t even know how to do things by themselves, they don´t know how to mate anymore or anything.
The general argument made by A. O. SCOTT his work,’’In a World Left Silent, One Heart Beeps’’, is that Wall-E gave an essential message, predicting what could be the future of our world. More specifically, A. O. SCOTT argues that Wall-E warns us and shows us that our dystopian ways are wrong and could lead to a controlled government and an end to Earth. He writes, “ We’ve grown accustomed to expecting surprises from Pixar, but “Wall-E” surely breaks new ground. It gives us a G-rated, computer-generated cartoon vision of our potential extinction..” In this passage, A. O. SCOTT is suggesting that we pay attention to what Wall-E and other Pixar movies are trying to inform us.
In conclusion, A. O. SCOTT believes that we pay attention to these warnings or our future could consist of the dystopian age. The world of ‘’Harrison Bergeron’’ is a perversion of Martin Luther King’s Ideas because, In ‘’Harrison Bergeron’’, the government believes everybody should be equally the same. Such as protecting the feelings of the lower-class people by making the smart, dumb or the stronger… weaker. ’’
THE YEAR WAS 2081, and everybody was finally equal. They weren’t only equal before God and the law. They were equal every which way. Nobody was smarter than anybody else. Nobody was better looking than anybody else. Nobody was stronger or quicker than anybody else.” In ‘’Harrison Bergeron’’ the government believed everybody should be the same.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. believed that everybody should have more so equal rights than be equal. “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. ”Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. believed all should have equal rights and shouldn´t be judged by the color of their skin, but more-so the actions of their character.
All of these dystopian stories are important because they show us that, if we continue doing the things we are doing, this could be our lifestyle. These shows, show us that we should be careful of what we do.Which means we should be more social, active and should clean up our world or it could lead to hazardous things.
