12 angry men is about 12 men who are called in as jurors for the case of a boy who may or may not be responsible for his fathers’ death. A lot of commotion happens when juror 8 stands up and says the boy is not guilty. Juror 8 shows ethos when he is trying to convince juror 10 that the old man could not have heard the boy say to his father “ I’m going to kill you “, juror 8 was trying to convince the other jurors that just because you say something doesn’t mean you are going to pull through with it.

Juror 10 shows pathos when he says ” he’s just an ignorant slob, he cant even speak good English “, then juror 11 says “ he does not speak English “ this statement is backing up juror 8’s statement that the old man could have not heard the boy say “ I’m going to kill you “. Juror 11 shows logos while convincing the other jurors that the old man could not have gotten from his bedroom to the front door to see the boy run down the stairs in fifteen seconds. Juror 11 states “I’d like to find out if an old man who drags one foot when he walks because he had a stroke last year could get from the bedroom to the front door in fifteen seconds.” Juror 11 is saying a logical argument that the old man could not have dragged himself that fast towards the door.

Juror 11 also starts to convince the other jurors that the women across the street could not see the boy kill his father without her spectacles on. Juror 11 says “its logical to assume that she wasn’t wearing them when she was in bed. Tossing and turning, trying to fall asleep.” Juror 11 continues by stating “I’m also guessing that she didn’t put on her glasses on when she casually out the window, and she testified the killing took place just as she looked out.”

In the book 12 angry men, there is a lot of emotion towards whether the boy is guilty or not guilty in this situation. If it was up to me all the evidence that juror 11 and juror 8 tried to convince the other jurors with, the boy would be not guilty. Because the old man couldn’t have moved that fast and the el train passing by was too loud to hear the boy say “ I’m going to kill you”. And the women across the street in blind without her glasses so she could not see this murder happen and she would have to see through the el train passing.
