She left because she was not happy with the current situation, and went to seek it elsewhere, away from Chris. Chris on the other hand stayed and actively pursues happiness throughout the entire movie, finally achieving it at the end.

The happiness in this film is to get a job but to get that job is not easy, he must struggle to get that and the struggle is so hard.
