The book The Crucible by Arthur Miller is a story that takes place in Salem Massachusetts and 1762 about the townspeople there and their paranoia of witches and Witchcraft. John Proctor is one of the main characters in the story. Proctor’s the one who wants to show everyone that witchcraft is not real. Abigail another main character in the story is backed by everyone in Salem over her believe that witchcraft is in fact real. John Proctor’s is selfless, hardworking and religious man who true to his beliefs, even if it means dying for what he believes in.

John Proctor displayed his selflessness in the book by even giving up his life for the townspeople when pressured to admit that he was involved in witchcraft in order to save his life, he explained, quote. This displayed his selflessness by showing that he was not willing to tell a lie in order to save his life. He would rather tell the truth, keep his good reputation as an honest man, and I know he died for standing up for what is right. He couldn’t bear the thought that innocent people were going to continue to die if he didn’t stand up for himself and others. He is the true definition of what it means to be selfless.

John Proctor’s a hard-working and dedicated man. He owns a farm and gives his all to maintaining and upkeep of his family farm. John Proctor’s always asking for jobs and even works on Sundays. According to his wife, Elizabeth Proctor, a person who is described in the book as a person who has never lied in her life, has only good things to say about her husband. Quote. This quote is very revealing as it gives insight to his everyday work ethic, and his dedication to his work and family.

John Proctor’s very dedicated man to God. He knows his relationship with God, and knows that all he does is all for God and others. When confronted with the idea of placing his name on the church, essentially damning his name, Proctor speaks out. Quote this quote shows that the mindset of Proctor and how he makes his decisions. His morals are largely shaped by his relationship with God. When dealing with the damming of his name, though he is very upset, he knows what he is done and speaking out was the right thing to do Through The Eyes Of God. John Proctor is a man who thinks about others before himself, dedicated to getting work done and stands for what he believes in Through The Eyes Of God.

Miller portrayed John Proctor is an ideal person someone we can all aspire to be in society. Encompasses the morals that we all hope to attain colon selflessness, godliness, and dedication to work, God and family. Miller essentially makes Proctor out to be a martyr. And though Proctor dies in the end, he is made out to be the hero for doing what is right. Maybe that is what mothers tried to teach us to Proctor’s character. That we often may be seen as evil or wrong in the eyes of others, but we must believe in our core values and not care about how others view us, but instead how we are seen through God.
