Washington Spies were a small group of men, about five to six full time agents and several sub-agents that worked off and on and that operated in many different places throughout the war and as well worked for George Washington himself. They were known as the Culper Rings.

The members of the Culper Ring were, George Washington, Benjamin Tallmadge and his colleagues, Abraham Woodhull, Robert Townsend, and many more. Some of the women in this group till this day still remain unknown

From the beginning of the war, George Washington focused of setting up sales and agents and other networks in different territories. He understood how important good accurate intelligence was.

There was a shadowy side of George Washington that helped win the war. A certain image of George is that he is very distant, we don’t really actually know George Washington. And because he is such a great American figure, there is an aspect of Washington in which he likes reading other peoples letters and also keeping an eye on people.

In the eighteenth century, there wasn’t really any intelligent agencies, nobody knew how to spy and no instructions on how to do so either.

Some interesting things that George Washington did was how he interacted with the Culper Ring. This ring used many interesting and clever ways to interact with one another and to exchange messages and important information from one place to another.

They all had to invent all of their trade craft, they had to invent invisible links, thy also had to invent secret codes. And they had to do all this from scratch which was very difficult for them.

The Culper Ring was very important to Washington winning the war. This was most important because it was organized by Americans during this war in 1778 to supply George Washington with crucial information that would lead to the success and win to the American Revolutionary War.

When the British occupied New York city during the war there was a wall thrown up around the city. Washington didn’t know what the British had planned nor did he know what was going on at the point and to win a war you clearly had to know what your enemies plans were and what they are plotting so that is why the Ring was just so important.

This was a small summary of the little knowledge I know about George Washington and the Culper Ring spies that helped win the American revolutionary war. I enjoyed listening to this audio book, the actors purpose was for Washington to win the war through the Ring spies and was successful. I learned that George Washington is indeed a very intelligent man and the way he goes about solving difficult issues is beyond great.

George Washington really was a great president and was a great example then and even now.
