Drinking and Driving have been a problem of motor vehicle accidents for a very long time and still is going on to this day. The amount of deaths and killings has been a large amount each year. Even though the person is arrested and charged with DUI and reckless endangerment it doesn’t stop them from going behind a wheel and do it again.

Major traffic accidents have involved a person influence by alcohol. According to the Department of Transportation National Highway traffic. “They have car fatalities every 50 minutes in 2016.” That’s horrible to hear someone dies every 50 minutes to Drunk Driving. The impaired crashes involved at least one driver or motorcycle with a blood level of .08 percent or above.

In 2016 Alcohol-impaired crash fatalities accounted for 28 percent of all crashes. “NHTSA said in 2016 10,497 people died in alcohol-impaired crashes.” That’s a very large amount of people that were killed because someone was careless of what they were doing. Drunk Driving crashes claim more than 10,000 lives per year.

Statistics

Even though the Federal Bureau of Investigation had estimated 1,017,808 drivers were arrested for driving under the influence in 2016 or narcotics. The rate in United States arrest for about every 215 licensed drivers. Just from 2014-2016 total traffic fatalities have been being 30,373 that’s a very extreme and sad number to look at but it’s reality. In 2016 total of killed not just including the Driver, Passenger, Penetration, Etc. Total up to 37,461.

Drunk Driving

Alcohol causes the function of the brain impaired thinking and no control over movements. Not having those abilities can’t make you not operate a vehicle safely. It’s illegal in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico to drive with a BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) of 0.08 or higher. Any amount of alcohol can cause and affect the ability to drive. Driving after drinking is deadly. If the proper protocol is taken then it should decrease the number of fatal car crashes.
