The genre that I have decided to study is cartoons. The two cartoons that I am studying about are “Cinderella” and “Sleeping Beauty” which are my favorite movies ever I could watch them over and over and never get bored of them. So, Cinderella story was published in the date March 4, 1950, by the directors Clyde Geronimi, Wilfred Jackson, Hamilton Luske.

The setting of this story the royals lived in a castle while Cinderella lived in a mansion. Cinderella lived with her father after her mother died and after a while, her father decided to marry a woman to raise Cinderella because of distraction with his work and his duties. He married a woman who has two daughters. Cinderella’s stepmother and her two daughters were so evil to her and treated her in the worst kind of treatments.

They made her work as a servant in the house. One day Cinderella was loved by the prince and then they ended up marrying and lived happily in the castle; her life had changed so much to the better. In this cartoon the convention that they have used are royalty by showing the life of the king and his son the prince living in a castle and how is it to live there, magic when Cinderella’s stepmother and stepsister went to the party in the castle but did not allow Cinderella to go, they ripped her only dress that she save so she doesn’t go and ask her to clean the house before going.

Cinderella was crying and suddenly a godmother with her magic stick gave Cinderella a new stylish dress, glass slipper, and a beautiful car and warned Cinderella that the magic would disappear in the middle of the night. Another convention that was used is protagonist which was Cinderella’s stepmother and stepsisters and antagonist which was Cinderella.

The writer’s purpose of writing this story was even if there is evil one day victory will prevail, also always be patient your dreams can come true. The targeted audience in the cartoon is young boys and girls to teach them to never give up on their dreams and continually be patient. this cartoon revels in the cinema, TVs and they even made a book about it.

Sleeping Beauty is was released to theaters on January 29, 1959, by Buena Vista Distribution. It was the 16th Disney animated feature film. The cartoon is 1 hour and 15 minutes long. After many childless years, finally the King and his Queen gleefully greet the birth of their daughter the Princess.

The settings used in the story was in the castle. In this cartoon the convention that they used is jealousy and evilness when the evil witch curses the princess to die on her 16th birthday but she only took a deep sleep and was not able to wake up until her true love wakes her with a kiss. And jealousy because the witch got mad do to not being invited to the party the king and queen did for their princess. No one liked her she was an evil person that’s why they did not invite her.

The main purpose of this story was to inform males and females who see their lives as monotonous and boring and have no purpose or meaning of living it when they do not get any support and assistance to achieve their dreams. When people feel like there’s no point of them living, they go in the mood of sleep and laziness, while retaining the hope that they will get over with it like in this tale the princess life had completely changed by a kiss.

If a kiss can return the princess to life than we can overcome our problems. The targeted audience in this film are the family members. It is an entertaining and have a hidden message that will deliver to everyone. It had a great success back in the day until today an it got a positive effect on the audience.
