We know him as the first president of the United States. George Washington was born on February 22, 1732, in Virginia. Washington was the eldest of six children. Washington was a commander in chief during the American Revolution War. After that he became a president of the United States. He served in the presidency from 1789 to 1797. Washington positively impacted the presidency in many ways like economic, political, military. There was not public campaigning for Washington’s presidency even though he did not want to be president. After winning the Revolutionary War and helping the country establish a new government, he got elected to be the president. He is the only president to have been unannouncedly elected by the electoral college. Washington did many remarkable events for our country. After all that, he passed away on December 14, 1799 from a throat infection.
The ratification of the Bill of Rights was one important event during Washington’s time. It was ratified on December 15, 1791. Washington spent years fighting for Independence from Britain. The Bill of Rights gives specifics of freedoms and protections to United States citizens, like freedom of speech, press or religion. Some supporters did not agree with the Bill of Rights. They thought it was not required. Instead, James Madison believed in adding amendments. The House agreed with Madison’s idea and that is how it got approved. Even today we can still enjoy the freedom of this country because of the amendments. We honor the Bill of Rights not only because of the influence that it gave us but, also because of the actions that brought to us so we can be protected. Washington’s role in the Bill of Rights is important in history because he enforce a strong and well balance government even though he had conflicts between the cabinet members.
The First Bank of the United States was founded during the Washington presidency in 1790. It was founded to control numerous debts that the United States had. The bank needed approval from the congress. It would help the country to govern its finances and to get loans in case of emergencies. Most importantly it would help pay the bills of the government. There were some opponents to The First Bank, James Madison and Thomas Jefferson disagreed because it was violating the Constitution. The United States citizens view the First Bank as one of the important projects founded during Washington’s presidency. The creation of the First Bank was to encourage the present situation of paying the debts the country had and to start a tax system.
George Washington fought for the American Independence. In June 1775, Congress approved Washington to take authority of the Continental Army. There were other candidates going for that same position, but Washington got elected based on his experience in the past. He did not have any experience with a large group of people. Being the commander in chief was a hard job at the beginning, but he learned over time. Even though he lost more battles than he won he never gave up for his country. After the years, he resigned from the army.
Washington took an important place in our country. As we know, he is called the “Father of United States”. He fought for our country and he helped the United States gain independence from the 13 colonies from Britain. He was well known for his persistence and dedication. Washington was a powerful general of the army. A man with great intentions for this country made him unannouncedly become the king of the United States. This man wanted to show the people a change in government. He gave freedoms and protection. He played an important role in the Bill of Rights. I decided to talk about George Washington because he played an important role founding the United States. Washington is considered one of the most significant figures in the American history. He had a short formal schooling, but that did not stop him from being the Father of The United States all his knowledge continued throughout his whole life. He became a soldier, farmer, and the president just by having a good knowledge about life. He accomplished every little thing he wanted for the country even with obstacles, but he never gave up.
