Watching the first video about “Wealth Inequality in America” which I found interesting and mind blowing to see the increased gap between the poor and the rich social class. The income gap has increased dramatically that it has overpowered the middle class creating a main focus between the rich and poor class. Like many hardworking Americans I never realized or took the time to think about how income inequality has affected us and how huge it has become these past few years. Wealth inequality is seriously out of hand in the United States.
The video explains the wealth distribution in the United States and how effected it has become with the 1% owning 40% of the country and the bottom 70% owning just a few points. It seems that the richer get richer and the poor get poorer. What I find crazy is how the system works the rich get much more money than the rest of the class being at the top of the class even when all the unfair tax laws are against them they still manage to be that better off than us which I find unfair. People say that we need to work harder and smarter educating ourselves financially which I do agree.
But when you’re working a minimum wage job it’s harder to focus on that statement when your struggling to get by. Everyone should try to educate themselves finically but not everyone has that opportunity to do so. Many people around the world work 40 plus hours a week and yet not making enough to get by. Every year we have tax increase which make it harder on us Americans to save financially. I remember in the early 2000s a person with a high school education could get a job that would pay enough to buy a themselves a home and even support their family because of how cheap everything was. Now, that not the case at all, the middle class should be the largest and strongest group in the country and its simply not as you see in the video middle class is declining.
Watching the “Corruption is Legal in America”, which ties into social class between rich and poor. Don’t get me wrong this country has its good sides and bad sides one example would be having the freedom of movement but I feel everything in the government is played out. The government does not work for the people in most cases. A lot of these politicians should be kicked out of office because corruption. The politicians are put there to give you the idea you have freedom of choice, but in reality you don’t they give you no choice.
I know the government is designed to work so that people choose the lawmakers and the lawmakers make the laws. If we don’t like the laws, they make we then vote them out the next election and vote for new people in to hopefully represent us better. But unfortunately, there will be no change if us Americans don’t vote. This is why it’s very important to vote during elections. I know quite a few friends that are US citizens that don’t ever go vote because, “there isn’t anyone running that they like” but later I hear them complaining about a law being pass that they don’t agree on which makes no sense. Things will only be fixed if we take the time to listen and educate ourselves and have civil conversations and debates. Everyone should unity and become one voice for us Americans that want a better government.
