Introduction

My topic of this speech is introducing the process of adopting a cat. In the first part of my speech, I will introduce how to adopt a cat. The second part I will talk about the staff you need to prepare for welcome a cat to your home. The last part I will introduce how to take care a cat.

Process of Bring a Cat to Your Home

The first thing you need to do is go to the website of human society central Texas. You can look all of cat they have with a picture, name and the animals’ ID. Choose the one you like and then go to the adoption application page. You need fill in a form which will ask something about you, like have you own a cat before, do you have other pets in your home and how many members in your family, and some contact information. After that, you need click submit and wait 1 to 2 days.

And then, you will receive a phone call and they will ask you some questions like if you will take care of his life, because they “concerns that people attracted to free adoptions may be less responsible owners”. (Crawford, H. M., Fontaine, J. B., & Calver, M. C, 2017)

The next step is go to the shelter to see if you like the cat you chose. If you don’t like him or her, you can look for others and do the same process for applying. If you like him or her, Rabies vaccine and sterilization operation is the next step. “Prevention of rabies in dogs and cats is key for reducing the risk of transmission of this deadly disease to humans.” (Jas, D., Coupier, C., Toulemonde, C. E., Guigal, P., & Poulet, H, 2012).

Therefore, rabies vaccine is very important. “We have observed that for both owned dogs and cats, the impact on the population size achieved by a single sterilization campaign would be diluted over the years, equating to the impact achieved by the usual sterilization rate practiced before the sterilization campaign yearly.” (Dias, R. A., Baquero, O. S., Guilloux, A. A., Moretti, C. F., de Lucca, T., Rodrigues, R. A., & … Amaku, M, 2015) that is the reason why cats need do the sterilization operations. After that, it is time to bring him or her to your home.

Staff You Need Prepare for Your Cat

You can go to some pet store to buy the essential products for your cat like PetSmart.

Food and feeders are the most important. You must feed your cat every day.

You need buy a litter box and some litter for your cat and It is essential. Because litter box is the restroom of your cat. You also need clean the litter box for your cat frequency if you don’t want to your cat have a dirty restroom. “Cats prefer a clean litter box to a dirty litter box.” (Ellis, J., McGowan, R., & Martin, F, 2017)

Your cat need a bed for comfortable sleeping, he also need a cat tree to play.

How to Take Care the Cat

Play with him is the most important thing. You have a lot of friends, but your cat only has you. If you decide to adopt him, you need take his life.

See a pet doctor on time. Sometimes, he will have a cold, you must take him to the doctor, some disease may kill him. It is not hard to know if your cat is sick. “The nose of cats is inhabited by much more variable and diverse microbial communities than previously shown.” (Dorn, E. S., Tress, B., Suchodolski, J. S., Nisar, T., Ravindran, P., Weber, K., & … Schulz, B. S, 2017). Cat with wet noise always healthy, you can use this way check his health.

Conclusion

After my introduction, I think the audience already know how to adopt a cat and how to take care the cat. If the audience have other questions, internet will

help them. They can google their questions or go to the YouTube to search some video to learn about their question. Cats are good friends of people, it is a happiness thing of owning a cat.
