There are many speculations into why did the Empire of Rome collapse since Roman was known for an extraordinary city, it may have been the largest city in the world with boasted stately palaces and beautiful residential areas (McKay, page 168). The question of either did the Roman Empire collapse because of its own weigh and that the seeds of its self-destruction had been planted generation earlier or because of the unrelenting barbarian attacks which weakened an army that was struggling to control the empires borders this question stays as a mystery. As far as I can tell I believe that the Roman Empire collapsed because the empire was hopelessly weakened by relentless attack on its borders When the invaders came to the empire of Rome they wanted to become a part of empire and enjoy its wealth (Goldsworthy, page 16). Roman was beginning to face some problems.
The empire was struggling because people lacked the stern of the earlier generation that had made the empire great (Goldsworthy, page 17). This was the beginning of their problems that may have leaded them to collapse. The barbarians maybe were planning to attack the empire because they had threatened Rome’s frontier (Hurley, Rome part 2, slide 24). They threatened them with extreme cruelty. Rumors were said to the Romans that heavy fighting was under its way but these rumors were ignored (Healthier, page 145). When invaders invaded the empire, Roman was losing territories, the loss of territories brought a decline in imperial revenues, the lifeblood of the state and this reduce its capacity to maintain its armed forces (Heathier, page 434). This weakened the empire.
