Seducing Macbeth
Every man has a weak spot, and al women know how to get to them, so they can get whatever they want out of them, truth, a favor, something they want them to do, etc. Shakespeare understood that well, he knew that no men is strong enough to control themselves when a woman, either through a sexual manner or not, asks them to do something and with the wish she also brings in some kind of tempting offer, making it almost impossible to say no.
In Scene 5 of the 1 Act Lady Macbeth has to bring some of her female strategies to convince Macbeth to murder the king and become king as the Weird Sister’s prophecy goes. As Macbeth arrives, Lady Macbeth has already read the letter he sent her telling her about the Weird Sister and their prophecy for Macbeth to become king. She greets him like a king: “Great Glaims! Worthy Cawdor! Greater than both, by the all-hail hereafter!” (53-4) This made him feel highly of himself. This is used as a great weapon, because now that she has elevated his ego he has to kill the king so that Lady Macbeth won’t see him as a coward. She continues with another strategy to affirm the king will not see the sun light of the next day after Macbeth says the king will spend the night over at their house.
When she notices Macbeth is backing off her plans she says: “Your face, my thane, is a book where man may read strange matters.” (61-2) That suggests that Lady Macbeth sees the fear in his eyes, and to avoid any trouble to her plans she tells him that he is not a good liar and cannot hide his emotions very well. She promises him that she will do as planned, and all he must do is act like nothing is wrong, with a welcoming face and attitude, “look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under’t. “(64-5) She is telling not look like something is up and relax, just pretend as if everything is going according as planned, and she will do all the dirty work herselt. In this part of the play is the first place where Macbeth thinks of murdering someone to get to power.

However he did not just come up with the idea by himself, not even the Weird Sisters had the same influence on Macbeth’s actions as his very own wife. She displays the evil part of the relationship; after reading Macbeth’s letter to her she started talking to spirits and ask them to “unsex” her, so that she will not let her maternal side stop her from doing whatever is necessary to achieve her goals of Macbeth finally becoming king. She decides to give up her own soul to do what is necessary. That is darkest part of the play, showing that Shakespeare was going through hard times in his own life, also showing how evil humans are to get whatever they feel like is needed.
