Marijuana, also known as weed, pot, grass, or herb, is a combination of a greenish-grey dried flowers of Cannabis Sativa. Society or most people tend to think that marijuana is used by people just to get high and have a good time. However, marijuana can be used in more ways than simply smoking it in a cigarette. As a result of the marijuana users, especially teenagers, using marijuana for the wrong reasons or consuming it the wrong and ineffective way, people think that that’s the only thing this plant is used for.
Some utilize weed for medical purposes and some for recreational/enjoyment purposes. There’s been some debate for quite some time on whether marijuana usage is actually beneficial or harmful to you and although the most common conclusion made about marijuana is that it’s bad for you, reports and reviews claim the opposite revealing some benefits to your body.
In my opinion, marijuana usage can do more good than harm if utilized appropriately. Because of its many advantages, I believe that marijuana can help people that deal with certain health and mental problems. The following reasons justify my opinion.
Marijuana possesses health benefits that can usually ease the pain of certain health problems/issues. According to the National Institutes of Health, people have used marijuana to treat their illnesses for at least 3,000 years.
Aunt Zelda, co-founded by Mary Gordon, is an organization that deals with patients and progresses cannabis-based medicines regarding the treatment of diseases like cancer and chronic pain. Gordon and her team have worked to develop effective cannabis medical treatments for cancer patients in a span of 6 years of operation. In the lab, a large number of preclinical and animal trials have shown that certain compounds existing in cannabis may help treat cancer in various ways.
Decreasing the chances for a tumor to create blood vessels is one of the ways that cannabis helps with fighting cancer; it basically starves the cancer cells. It also decreases the likelihood of metastasis to occur (a process where tumor cells detach and spread to different parts of the body). Moreover, cannabis compounds have been revealed to being able to stop the growth of tumor cells and therefore triggering them to self-destruct.
