Fast food in general, can be quite delicious and filling for many in the world, however, many risks are also attributed to eating fast food due to the many debilitations it can come to cause, primarily with the human heart. Our human bodies are complex constructs that required daily nutrition to function at its peak performance. There are many risky factors when it comes to human health, however, fast food is a very large detriment to our health if eaten often.

A large factor that has to do with heart disease is the application of Trans-Fatty acids in our fast foods. Trans-Fatty acids while not found typically in natural foods out in nature, has exploded into the lives of many through industrialization. Since around the 1950’s many snack foods and other leisure snacks. It sees prominent influx in the fast food sector, since fast foods are fried. Even though fast food can obviously be eaten, it must be eaten with care, as eating an overabundance, or eating it too often can lead to definite problems, such as coronary heart disease.

Coronary heart disease and coronary artery disease can be attributed to the high amounts of bad cholesterol found in almost any fast foods. Since many foods are fried in hydrogenated vegetable oils, which contain trans fats, this explodes the application of trans fats. Also, many foods made in large industrial amounts are also produced with trans fats added on top of their already high levels of saturation, to protect against spoiling, and decay. Even though strides in research and industrial application have improved the overall amounts of trans fats in foods, it has not changed very much since the 1960’s, which shows we are all still at risk.

While coronary heart disease can be linked to other hazards and debilitations, like smoking, obesity, and diabetes, it is still caused by large saturation of LDL, or “bad” cholesterol, and the lowering of HDL “good” cholesterol. A component of this in the saturation of the veins and arteries with fatty acid deposits, causing building up in these channels, which constrict blood flow, also called atherosclerosis. This can cause internal pain, throughout most of the human body, such as chest pain, back pain, difficulty breathing due to clogging, stress buildup, and in critical cases, can lead to heart attack or stroke.

Due to these dangerous factors, it shows how and why people can be led to death due to this disease that is so widespread throughout the western nations due to our consumption of these trans fatty acids. This is a common form of cardiovascular disease found in humans but doesn’t change its prevalent lethality. The influx of trans fatty acids in people consuming fast foods leads to the overall reduction of “good” cholesterol, while increasing “bad” cholesterol.

In fact, yearly 30,000 people die from coronary heart disease attributed to fast food consumption. Even though, in 1995, the food industry did not dub these trans fatty acids as problematic as, more research was necessary. The consensus now is, according to immense evidence shared to the FDA, the FDA has ruled that foods need to be marked with warnings of trans fatty acids beforehand, to warn the populace. Other effects of trans fatty acids can lead to obesity. Therefore, many people who consume fast foods frequently are candidates for obesity and heart disease. Frequently eating fast foods leads to a very bad diet that is difficult to escape from.

The dietary habits of fast food intake are quite negative, and lea to these health problems. Metabolic syndrome is another byproduct of trans fats and fast food intake, specifically linked to obesity. Many cases of diabetes can be linked to Metabolic Syndrome, which can also lead to insulin resistance, something people diagnosed with diabetes are under risk of having. Since people with diabetes need insulin to combat it, having insulin resistance is a huge detriment to their health.

Overall, Metabolic Syndrome is a culmination of many similar debilitations, such as diabetes, obesity, and high blood pressure. It is even possible in some cases to begin damaging one’s blood, with clogged arteries, and increased stress on the heart, it can begin performing much worse, and under heavy pressure. The human heart is one of the most sensitive organs within the constructs of our bodies and needs to be up and running and full capacity for us to function properly.

With heart disease and debilitations, adding strain to the heart can lead to long lasting problems, and even death. Therefore, it is very important to keep the human heart in prime condition. Children also are under risk of heart problems from consumption of fast foods at an early age. This can lead children to feature illnesses such as heart problems, asthma, and obesity. Because children are still in the developmental age, their body needs specific nutrients to grow proper and good. However, by starching one’s body with fast foods, the developmental cycle gets corrupted, and children may grow with a high chance of diabetes, obesity, and heart problems as they mature.

All this is a possible byproduct of fast food consumption. But why continue using saturated fats, if in Europe, many have come to the shocking conclusion of the lethality of coronary heart disease? It is far easier to produce, hence why the food industry has heartlessly tried to defend its stance on “more research needed”. They don’t want to lose profits, no industry does. European unions have been implementing trans free products and margarine that is low in saturated fats and free of trans fats.

Of course, these products are available in the U.S, they are hugely eclipsed by the height of more hydrogenated products. To combat trans fatty acids already inside you, it is important to take up a good diet, scratching fast foods completely off your meals. It is first important to begin a good practice on what you consume, taking in positive foods and careful excursive to vent out bad cholesterol over time. With proper medicine, it is possible to recover from this debilitation, but requires a huge amount of willpower from the individual not to be tempted to consume fast foods again and run the risk of worsening their health.

With the explosive nature of trans fatty acids in our culture and food, it is quite difficult to rid ourselves of its influence forever. Because of the common nature of how the food industry implements it preservatives, and mass production factors, can lead to many people contracting these debilitations. Humans must show restraint in the wake of these fast food intakes, as it can lead to many diseases and debilitations as has been touched upon. With a good and healthy diet, and exercise, one can treat some of these debilitations.
