The comedy that I watched was “Monty Python and The Holy Grail”. The movie was released in theaters on March 4, 1975 and was directed by Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones. The film hand a budget of $294,614. The move is a stand up comedy that is meant to take place in the Middle Ages. While being shown as a modern day murder investigation, there is a king who leads his men on a quest to find the holy grail. The directors overall style is funny while also showing the crew run into challenges they have to overcome.

“Monty Python and The Holy Grail” is a slapstick comedy. This movie is a slapstick comedy because the characters face tones of events that embarreses them. They are also always taking part in crazy tasks that seem to take them forever. The “Black Knight” scene shows how the movie is a slapstick comedy. When the king and the knight are fighting the knight losses both his arms and says that he has he has had worse. It show that he is embarrassed by the outcome of the fight that he quickly lost. He then proceeds to fight and loses both his legs. While he lays on the ground he calls the king a coward for walking away.

In this film, males and females are not treated equally at all. Women are almost down graded and just seen as people trying to seduce king in the film. While the movie is funny it is very sad that no females have any lead roles in the film. The movie tends to portray women as sexual temptations rather than people in the movie. The “Lady of the lake” scene shows how women were seen as working peasants rather than people. In my opinion women should of had laeger roles in the film besides people trying to seduce the king.

I think the scene “The French Fight Dirty” may have been pushing the limits of production code. I think that it was pushing the limits because it singles out a group and makes them seem worse than the rest. The Same scene might have been approached today with a less crude attitude toward the French and made it more politically corrects. I think the original way would be much better because it has a better sense of humor compared to today’s movie standards. It would be less humorous compared to the original film in the movie

In conclusion I enjoyed “Monty Python and The Holy Grail” because it was a very funny film with many twists in it. They endured many challenges which made it enjoyable to watch and to keep you laughing the whole time. Watching this film makes me want to watch the movie again while also watching many new comedy films. The best scene of the movie is the “Black Knight”. This is my favorite part of the movie because the knight loses his arms and legs and continues to harass the king into fighting more. When the king leaves he calls him a coward and claims it’s only a flesh wound.
