Would you choose the elevator or the stairs what about walking a short distance or riding in a car? While taking the elevator or riding in the car is easier and requires less effort, these things will give your bodies many benefits. Exercise is activity requiring physical effort, carried out especially to sustain or improve health and fitness. Exercise is not just about the weight loss. It has a much greater impact on our bodies than we realize. I am first going to tell you how the lack of exercise harms your body. Following how the lack of exercise can harm your body, I will address the many benefits that come along with exercising only 30 minutes a day. Many people think you have to get a long, hard exercise in so you will see and feel the effects. However, a short 30 minute exercise can do the trick.

Lack of Exercise

Lack of exercise harms our bodies in more ways than you might think. According to Daily Mail, physical inactivity is as deadly as smoking. When you your body does not get the right amount of exercise it needs, it starts to crave unhealthy foods. However, when you do exercise your body craves for healthier foods rather than potato chips or sweets.

Lack of exercise causes one to not be able to get a good night’s rest. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one in every three adults do not get enough sleep their body needs and this can be caused from lack of exercise. When you actually do decide to take the stairs, you probably get winded easily do not exercise regularly.

Your metabolism may be great right now but in the long run it will eventually slow down therefore starting to exercise now can possibly prevent this. Even if your eating habits or exercising habits stay the same, your metabolism will still slow down with age. Not getting the right amount of exercise will increase your chance of getting injured.Your body will become accustomed to little movement and your muscles will become deconditioned.

The heavy box you used to could lift without any trouble may come with few aches and pains. Many people tend to think that exercise is only a physical activity, but it is actually a mental activity as well. Exercise is a huge factor when it comes to your mood; it is not just in your head. Grumpiness and depression increase when you are not exercising enough. You will feel more stress the less you exercise, but a 30-45 minute small workout can decrease your stress.

Lastly, a sedentary lifestyle allows your bones to become weak and could possibly lead to osteoporosis which is medical condition where your bones become brittle and fragile. Along with osteoporosis, many other diseases are higher risk for you when you are physically inactive such as certain cancers, specifically breast and colon cancer, coronary heart disease, and metabolic syndrome.

Benefits of Exercise

An easy 30 minute exercise comes with so many benefits. The first benefit is that exercise increases your energy levels. No one wants to feel sluggish and worn out all day so a little work out 3-5 times a week can fix that. It also improves your strength and cardiovascular system to get the oxygen and nutrients to your muscles and body that are needed. Because exercise improves your ability to pump oxygen and nutrients, it enhances your immune system.

The more you exercise, the better your health will be. Exercising can improve your joint, tendon, and ligament flexibility, your brain function, your muscle strength, and your mood. When you are active, you are using your joints, tendons, ligaments, and muscles which means they are moving and staying conditioned. The more active you are, the more tired you will be, therefore you tend to get a good night’s rest.

A good night’s sleep can reduce your stress. Usually, when you are stressed, it is hard to get the motivation to go out and do something such as exercise, but when you do it the first time, it can easily become a habit. Exercise not only reduces stress, but it makes you feel better in general. Exercising releases endorphins which are chemicals released that interact with receptors in your brain to help put you in a better mood.

They trigger positive feelings in your brain. In my own experience, I have come to the realization that this is very true. We all want a healthy weight and to look good. While you exercise, you are burning calories which leads to weight loss and helps with maintaining a healthy weight.

A regular exercise can reduce your risk of some of the effects of aging, getting type two diabetes, various bone diseases, and certain cancers. Studies by the Seattle Cancer Research Centre have suggested that 35% of all cancer deaths are linked to being overweight, but this can easily be prevented. So now, I am going to ask you again. Will you choose to take the stairs or the elevator, walk or ride in a car?

Conclusion

So while many people think exercising is for weight loss and muscle gain, you now know there are so many more benefits than just those. Is being inactive really worth the possibility of chronic diseases, being overweight, or even shortening your life? It is not hard to find the time in your day to get up and get moving. I understand that most us have very busy schedules, but instead of laying on your phone for 30 minutes of your free time, replace that with a quick, easy exercise. Taking only 30 minutes of your day is nothing compared to having poor health your entire life.
