Do you think that morals can change your opinion on things that relate to your differences? Well there is no clear fate for everyone even if you were born into a certain kind of lifestyle, race, or gender you get slapped onto you at birth because anything about your universe can change in an instant, especially when you have the ability to pick and choose your own outcomes. The constant debate between Fate and Free will has been a conversation since humans obtained consciousness, and it will be a topic to converse about until a answer has be proven to be true.

Free will is what is true in our world and people guide what happens to them by ultimately picking and choosing their own decisions and outcomes. Fate is not a factor when it comes to your freewill of choice and options, and while some may speculate that your life is already set in stone before you’re even born because of genetics, religion, and maybe even predetermined illnesses but this will help change your mind with facts and examples leading to my belief about how the world works and what is on the inner workings of your life.

Deciding whether or not to do something by saying yes or no is part of human nature and can be applied to almost every aspect of everything you do in your life. So when you’re making your choices and something you have to decide on shows up you have the free will to say yes, or no and make your own judgements about the situation. Just like in the story Antigone, a story about a duo of sisters trying not to meet a prophecy of their two brothers fighting over who gets the power within Thebes, a city within their rulership, and hopefully not ending up killing each other in the process but they both end up dead while one of the brothers Eteocles has a real burial and gets honored all when the second of the brothers who fought on the opposing side, Polynices, doesn’t get a traditional burial and gets left out on a rock to get shamed and picked at by the vultures.

Which then leads to my evidence piece when one of the sisters Antigone tries to change the fate of her brother by putting it in her own hands of free will and basically saying no to just letting her brother get a proper burial “You must decide whether you will help me or not” (Every Student) this shows how one sister decides on her own to not follow the new rules orders and make her own choices and have her brother Polynices be honored like Eteocles. Saying yes or no applies to more than just written choices and ones that can be seen for all, for example different sorts of cultures serve different meals at restaurants and in American culture you have the freewill to pick and choose options you want on your main dish and what comes on the side of it. “Because the real you is the choices you make.” (Utminers)

This shows how just something as simple as a preference of food can translate into a bigger picture of who you actually are and what symbols make you as a person by your own decisions. Free will is more of a multiple path roads while fate is in my mind a singular path already decided for you. Just like in life you come across multiple challenges and options which you then get to put your own two cents in and using your own consciousness to pick and choose outcomes for yourself.

The definition of Religion is: the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods. Also that “many people raised in the U.S. as Christians become unaffiliated in adulthood” (Pew Research Center) This mentions that it is a common thing to have people believe what they want as adults even if they were born into religion, this can be seen as a way to use their free will in their own power and believe in whatever it is they want to. It also states no where in the definition that one must live in the worshipping way their entire life, if they were born in it or convert to being religious. “No dice throwing this time: I was only too glad to come!” (Antigone 314) Deciding not to believe in the fate of the gods for one moment in time because it didn’t go the way they wanted so it must’ve been a person decided free will choice. Values are also a huge part of people’s lives and they grow up learning that these things are what has the most worth and what’s morally right for them.

The free will between people and their constant values through life are some of the most powerful aspects of people’s life but they can change and do change when people get exposure from the outside world from when they were all initially growing up. “Values that suited you as a child change as you become a young adult, form relationships and make your way in the world.” (CenterSite) this article reads more in depth about how people change overtime with better and more logical experiences about humans and what they choose to believe. This ties to religion mostly because of its growing up factor and believing what is right and normal in a certain humans. Believing in religion and or values are your baseline for being a human being because of the simple fact of having morals is what pushes you to make your own choices and have belief in your own choice you make from your own personal decisions from experiences.

In total there is also sense of when religion got started, if someone were to create a religion and be the founder of the commercial value it would mean that whenever people joined they had to put their belief in it and trust it with their life, if that happened people would pass down this ideal of religion to their children and they would grow up only knowing about that and thinking that’s all what goes on in life and that would base their morals off of that. If all this happened then the children would be grown up with that mentality of religion and want to pass it on to their kids, but it’s proven with facts and people just in general don’t have to believe in anything and then they convert out of it even though they were “destined” to be a person of religion and wouldn’t even think of converting out of the very things they grew up learning about.

Euthanasia is a process in which a patient, usually already fatally ill, is assisted in suicide, whether it be by physician, family, or consent from the patient themself. This process has sparked controversy in many political spheres. Euthanasia is a choice for the patient, because they are granted the “right to die”, regardless of the severity of their illness. Determinism is the idea that every decision made by man is predetermined and that no one choice is an actual decision made. This process of euthanasia defies that concept, because there would be no need for assisted suicide if the person was predetermined to die by their illness.

Undergoing euthanasia is a choice by the patient to end their suffering, there is no set in stone prophecy that states that they will die in this manner. In India, the government, “contended that [the] ‘right to die’ be included in Article 21 of the Constitution and any person abetting the commission of suicide by anyone is merely assisting in the enforcement of the fundamental right under Article 21” (Math). There would be no need for this addition to the Constitution if the decision by a person to end their own life was not a choice, because it would have already been decided how and when the person would die.

Similarly, if determinism was a true philosophy, there would be no need for criminal incarceration. If a murder was already predetermined, there could be preventative actions taken to ensure that it does not occur. This is not the case though, for thousands serve criminal sentences for murder, ranging from attempted murder to manslaughter to first degree murder. Committing such a crime is a choice the murderer made, whether given a motive or not, it is still their own definitive decision. A sentence for first degree murder is “an automatic life sentence without possibility of parole for 25 years. Offenders who are paroled are on parole for the rest of their life, even after their release from prison” (“Murder vs. Manslaughter”). The justice system would not have a need to set minimum and maximum sentences for given crimes if a crime was predetermined, and the criminal would not be prosecuted because it would not have been their choice if the course of action was already set in stone.

In conclusion, fate has no power over free will and the information provided in this argument essay is very much so the reason to be and always to be in denial of all discussions and arguments about fate being a possibility of how the human world works. This goes on to be confirmed more so when you read about it in the daily articles of your life and when more and more facts come out to be seen and consumed by the reader. People begin to pick and choose their own options based on personal experiences and cruise on what they believe matters to them and only them.
