By using this line, he makes the audience, either to be on his side or the opponent side.

Dr. King starts his letter by telling the reader and be confident while he was in the Birmingham jail. He starts telling the important of why he was where he was. Is important that he is making statement by making a strong point of view right away in his letter. He said they threw me in jail for what I believe and who I am, it is okay with that because I am standing up for what I believe in. He also mentions that he is doing a sacrifice for the cause of human rights, and still they are disputing his purpose for being in Birmingham.

He makes a great point by bringing his audience to the reality when he mentions, how he was labeled an outsider by the clergymen. He states with his line “ I was invited here, I am here because I have an organization ties here”, he had a strong purpose he was there to stand for his people, him as a leader was not going to let his people down. He was there to protect them, without any violence.
