In the book A Catcher in the Rye there is one main character, Holden Caulfield. He is sort of a bad boy type, cause he has gotten kicked out of many schools. I could not relate to that because I am the total opposite a good girl, I would never get kicked out of school because I care too much. He keeps this secret from his parents because he worries that they will have a bad reaction.
Yet I tell my mom everything, so if I was in that situation I would have no choice but to tell my mom. Although, Holden and I are different we do have some similarities. One thing we have in common is that we are both generous.
For example in the book he writes a paper for his “friend”. I wouldn’t write a paper for my friend but I would help then and give them advice on how to fix it. Holden also lends his friends things which I also tend to do. Holden is very indecisive, one minute he wants to call his friends next minute he doesn’t. I am also indecisive, I never know what I want to do and I always leave it up to my friends.
In chapter ten Holden talks very kindly of his sister, Phoebe, you can tell he cares about her. That’s how I am with my brothers, I care about them a lot. Holden also speaks about his brother, D.B, who is a successful writer in Hollywood.
You can tell that he had inspiration from his brother. My brothers also inspire me to do better and be better. As you can see Holden and I have some things in common and some things that’s different. By the differences you see that Holden is more of a risk taker than I am. By the similarities you see that Holden and I both have a special place in our hearts for our family.
