If I got a ticket in my hand. I would love to use my ticket to go back in time to my childhood. In my mind, the idea of freedom changes as we grow up. Throughout childhood, we’ve a freedom from responsibility, and as we tend to mature into adults, we’ve freedom from dependency-we can make our own choices. Before I develop up to be a self-sustaining woman, I would love to use my ticket to go back in time to my childhood. I miss numerous things about being the child that I was because honestly, it was awesome being a kid.
The first thing that come to my mind, is playing with all of my neighborhood friends after school. The rushing back home right after the school day was over and then out again, knocking on all of my friend’s door with a ball under my arm to see if they’re home yet. Those were good times. I miss the impression of time. Time really does go by quicker the older we become. As a child, staying up past our bed time was a remarkable privilege. Nowadays with assignments and work, going to sleep early is such a deluxe.
As a kid, I would get so excited very Saturday when the ice cream truck made it way through our neighborhood. But it wasn’t the ice cream I was enthusiastic about it was more so the tune of the song that made me jolly. Every time I heard the truck’s tune, I ran outside and busted out crazy dance move. Those simple things made me so happy. As we grow older, we take things for granted and stop taking pleasure in the little things.
As a kid, we can be chaotic and commit errors and it’s alright. Everything is part of a learning process called growing up. You have guardians or parents to instruct you wrong from right and clean up mess for you. When you’re a grown up, you don’t have that extravagance. Messing up in real world comes with consequences that is more unpleasant then time out or grounding. Nobody is immaculate and nobody ever will be, yet flaws are significantly more acceptable when you’re a child then an adult.
As a child, we can play for a considerable length of time using nothing but our imagination. Clouds transform into animals and dolls come to life. We tell stories and make believe to places that we dream. Imagination blurs away as you grow older and is supplanted with brutal facts and harsh realities that you may not want to face. It’s a lot harder to escape to your imaginary land when you’re confronted with the actual world.
Childhood is a period of time that is regularly taken for granted. Children’s nowadays are being pushed to work harder in school and be involved in more extracurriculars activities. In addition to that, the domain of social media, technology and pop culture has absorbed them and taken away most of their purity and imagination. Children need to remain kids for as long as they can because you can only live once. As a senior in high school I would like to have an opportunity to travel back in time.
