Jane Eyre is a book write by Charlotte Brontë , published under the pen name “Currer Bell”, on 16 October 1847 in England. In this novel, the most important character is Jane Eyre , she is the protagonist and the narrator in the novel. She is very smart, honest, and ordinary. At the beginning of the novel she was an orphan with anger and resentment. But she gradually developed into an independent, artistic, sensitive, and maternal young woman. She was looked down upon by others, because she don’t has any body to rely on. She lived in her aunt’s, Ms Reed’s house, although her aunt promised Mr. Reed that she would treat Jane as her own, she just over-praising her child and then abusing Jane. When Jane Eyre was 10 years old, she was sent to Lowood school by Ms. Reed. She told the principal that Jane is a little liar, and full of resentment, she hopes the principal can educate her severely, which is why Jane lived a hard life at school, and the principal told all the students to stay away from her. She only have one best friend in the school who named Helen Burns, but she dies early on in Jane’s time at Lowood. After Helen dead. Jane always keeps her spirit of independence, and become to a private teacher in Thornfield Manor which is owned by Mr. Edward Rochester. To be a private teacher, Jane just want to improve her desire for independence from the economy and emotions. During her teaching time, she and Mr. Edward Rochester were fall in love. But she refused to marry Rochester at first because she thinks she can only get married when she Gained economic independence and self-esteem to maintain an equal marriage. After that she finds out that Rochester had a wife already, so she leaved, because of her strong self-esteem. Jane Eyre reflects the independence and tenacity of women, we should learn form her, and Rochester depicts the ideals of men.
