The most common substances that ought to be discouraged are all alcoholic substances, all smoking substances and all direct injection drug substances that are not professionally recommended by the medical practitioners. In most cases, minors spend the greater part of their lives with their parents, hence, targeting parents as mentors on the appropriate use of drugs should be highly recommended for effective knowledge of use of substances to the minors.

Unlike teachers parents have direct control to the lives of their children; consequently, many minors pay a lot of attention to their close guardians. In order for the parents to efficiently pass the information to their children, they should role models by not engaging in all matters related to drugs and the use of substances. It becomes very difficult to children to incorporate in the daily practices, undertakings that they see from their parents. Parents’ strategy is a convenient tool of prevention to drugs abuse following the roles and relations of parents to the children (Alpert et al., 2007, p. 56). The setting in which parents strategy is applied is very wide since it entails all the avenues where children interact directly with their parents. Parents strategy is the most convenient, quick and cost-effective intervention to containment of the spread of drugs abuse and addiction among the minors.
