There are very little health risks and the use of the drug is able to overcome certain types of illnesses and side effects that many types of other already legalized drugs cannot protect against. Another pro to the use of medical marijuana is not just the fact that doctors are crediting the use of the drug to perform greatly, but the fact that the drug does as it is proclaimed to do so.
It treats people whom are very ill and gives them the treatments they need to become well. A very important pro of this drug is that when given to the terminally ill with either cancer or AIDS it greatly reduces pain and illness. Although it does not completely heal the patients it still gives them temporarily healing without any known causes of setbacks or side effects. Along with the previously mentioned doctors and physicians approval of the administration of the drug, many medical organizations that have seen the effects and therapeutic uses of medical marijuana have urged the legalization because they know how useful the drug can be. This alone says enough to convince many that the drug should be used to treat patients.
However, although there are many pros and good things that would come along with the legalization of marijuana there are also cons and negative things that arise, one of those being the fact that the drug is seen as a gateway drug. As people are administered this drug for therapeutic reasons they have an increasing chance of doing this drug outside of medical reasons. Especially with younger age, people are more likely to be introduced to other drugs from the use of marijuana in the healthcare system. Addictiveness also comes as a setback to the use of the medical drug. As patients rely on the drug to progress their wellbeing in rehab and therapy they become dependent on it and eventually become dependent outside of a medical setting therefore causing them to become addicted. As youths are given the drug for medical purposes, this downwardly spirals their drug use later on in life. They become introduced early and then they progressively get worse, which is a definite con to the issue. A major con in regards to youth administration of the drug is the effect on learning and brain stability outside of the medical system.

However I believe that the drug should be administered with consent of the patient and physicians should only give it for therapeutic use if the patient consents to it.
